Student answer (Band 7.0)

In this digital era, online shopping has become widely used and gained considerable attention from shoppers. In my perspective, I completely support this notion because it not only offer greater convenience, but also improves overall shopping experience. The looming paragraphs will discuss the reasons from my viewpoint.

The primary reason why I support this view is that online shopping offer greater comfort, wider product selection and often lower prices, which makes it more attractive than physical store. This is because it reduce people hassle of doing offline shopping, require to go different outlets, and invest ample amount of money on an expensive items. As a result, people always misses out on the discounts offer by big brands. For example, in canada local sellers understood the benefits of online shopping and they generally offer great amount of discount to compete with other brands. Therefore, this demonstrates that through online shopping everything is easily available on your mobile phone where people can decide between different products and save money.

Another important reason is that as technology improves and home delivery become faster, it has changed shopping experience permanently and habits. This means that every brand has their own mobile application, which offer free home delivery services to provide comfort to their customers to improve quality of life. Consequently, This is not only restricted to shopping, but also available in food chain restaurants, they deliver food within no time and securely. For instance, in India there is an application called "Blinkit", they claim to deliver under 10 minutes and this has changed shopping behaviour drastically. Overall, this further supports my opinion.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that technological advancements have transformed shopping experience because it not only provide convenience, but also save time for people to go out for shop. Therefore, I believe that this approach would bring greater benefits to both individuals and society in the long run.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as convenience, product variety, and technological advancements like rapid delivery services. However, the development is somewhat repetitive, and the argument that all physical shops will close is not fully explored in terms of the counter-argument or the nuance of the 'one day' timeframe. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments could be more deeply analysed to reach a higher band. The response is well-structured and stays on topic, meeting the requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The primary reason', 'Another important reason', and 'Consequently', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the awkward phrasing in 'The looming paragraphs will discuss'. Despite these minor issues, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task. You use some good topic-specific terms like 'technological advancements', 'mobile application', and 'shopping behaviour'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'reduce people hassle' (should be 'reduce the hassle for people') and 'invest ample amount of money on an expensive items' (should be 'on expensive items'). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision of your expression. Expanding your range of collocations and refining your use of articles would help improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'online shopping offer', 'it reduce', 'home delivery become') and article usage. Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some errors in sentence construction, such as the comma splice in 'For instance, in India there is an application called "Blinkit", they claim to deliver...'. These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points.
