Student answer (Band 6.0)

Increasing options of online shopping effects the offline businesses in numerous ways in towns and cities. I partially agree to the above statement that I am going to describe in the upcoming paragraphs.

The trend of online stores makes it easier for the persons who are not able to get time from their busy schedule to go out for bringing some stuff. There are working professionals that hardly have one day off from their office, business and so on. For such people, the online shopping is very convenient way to acquire the required things just at their residence while having their rest and quality time with the family. As an example, a person in a corporate job always looks forward to a day off to feel relaxed who travels almost six days of week for one or two hours to get to their job and then back to home. This kind of individuals take benefits from resources that are available just at their hands without any physical stress.

In contrast, this aspect has a few drawbacks that are non-negotiable. Offline business may have to face lose in productivity due to the growth of online storefronts. There are shops that are easily accessible to the customers , but as per the influence of viral products, masses have ignored the traditional areas to visit. As an example, population of cities and towns over rural areas are now more curious to buy things online because they feel they are more litrate to use these kind of facilities even if they have time to go in person.

To conclude with, I assume the pros and cons of development of online shopping are not equal depending on the situation and mentality of individuals.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the impact of online shopping, but the development is somewhat limited. While you state a partial agreement, the argument lacks depth. For instance, the second paragraph focuses on the convenience for busy professionals, but the counter-argument regarding the closure of physical shops is underdeveloped. You mention that offline businesses face 'lose in productivity' and that people are 'more litrate', but these points are not fully explored or linked back to the core question of whether all shops will eventually close. To improve, ensure each paragraph provides a clear, extended argument that directly supports your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'To conclude with, I assume'. The progression of ideas is present but could be smoother; the transition between the benefits of online shopping and the drawbacks for physical stores feels abrupt. Referencing is generally clear, but the logical flow between sentences could be strengthened by using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'nevertheless') to better connect your arguments and examples.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but there are several instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors. For example, you use 'effects' (a noun) instead of 'affects' (a verb), and 'litrate' (spelling error) instead of 'literate'. Phrases like 'bringing some stuff' and 'get to their job' are quite informal and lack the precision expected at higher bands. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to business and retail, and ensure you check for common spelling errors and word-class distinctions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally cause the reader to pause, such as 'this kind of individuals take benefits' (should be 'these kinds of individuals') and 'face lose in productivity' (should be 'face a loss'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic agreement and verb forms will significantly improve your score.
