Student answer (Band 6.5)

A number of individuals hold a belief that increasing demand of online shopping will result in shutting down all the shops and cities. I completely disagree with the statement as most people do not like online shopping or they do not get their desired products and some like traditional shopping from shops. I will discuss this issue in the below given paragraphs.

To begin with, first and foremost is a number of individuals do not like buying online. The reason behind it, they sometimes get different products or different sizes products. Moreover, they are various scams going on different websites due to this people do not receive that things what they have ordered. For example, one person made a vedio what he ordered to show the public in front of the camera. He/ she ordered kitchen items but he/ she received that items in small size like kids kitchen item. Furthermore, there a number of vedios related to the wrong products. Therefore, most people do not trust buying online, they always prefer to buy from shops as they know about these frauds.

Apart from this, most of the individuals prefer doing window shopping. To explain it, they are good in bargain and also want to check the quality of the products while buying them. To illustrate it, in Asian Countries, purchasing from shops is preferred as compared to online as they do not trust on online goods and like to go for shopping. In this way, there is now way of closing the traditional shops and cities.

In conclusion, most people think that online shopping will close the stores and shops one day, I firmly believe that individuals still like go for a shopping on the shops as they do not believe on websites.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed the prompt and maintained a clear position throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant, focusing on trust issues and the preference for physical interaction. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the argument regarding 'scams' is supported by a repetitive anecdote about kitchen items, which lacks the depth required for a higher band. To improve, you should aim to provide more sophisticated reasoning or broader societal examples rather than relying on personal anecdotes. The conclusion restates your position, but the overall development remains somewhat basic, keeping this in the mid-range.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to link your ideas. However, the progression of ideas within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'they are various scams'). The transition between sentences could be smoother to improve the flow. While the structure is logical, the range of cohesive devices is limited, and some connections feel repetitive. Increasing the variety of linking words and ensuring better sentence-to-sentence cohesion would elevate this score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to express your opinions clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'online shopping', 'traditional shopping', and 'window shopping'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'shutting down all the shops and cities' (which is logically imprecise) and 'there is now way of closing' (likely meant 'no way'). The range is somewhat limited, and you rely on simple, repetitive structures. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise collocations and a wider range of vocabulary related to commerce and consumer behavior.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('there a number of vedios'), missing articles, and incorrect preposition usage ('believe on websites' instead of 'believe in'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. You should focus on proofreading for basic errors like pluralization and verb forms. To improve your range, try to incorporate more varied complex sentence structures, such as conditional clauses or relative clauses, while ensuring they are grammatically accurate.
