Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the modern era, online shopping is becoming increasingly common because of the advancement of technology. It has been argued that expansion of digital shopping will result in closure of all shops in metropolis. I totally agree with this statement however, I still think that there are people who enjoy shopping in stores.
To start with, one of the main reasons behind this trend is the advanced innovation in online platforms. People have access to various applications such as Amazon and Flipkart, which provides different products in affordable price by offering discount deals. In addition, individual can have both flexibility and convenience as it allows people to order from anywhere regardless of the location. For instance, professionals can buy their groceries online during work hours so that they are delivered by the time they get home. Hence, it is less time-consuming and increases work efficiency.
On the other hand, people still like to visit different stores as all the items are not available on e-commerce sites. Elderly residents are not adapted with this development, so they prefer to explore the outlets physically since they believe to see products before buying them. Furthermore, technology can sometimes face challenges such as scams and frauds. These days, cyber crime is widespread, and this can stop people from ordering online as it fears losing of money.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt but is incomplete, as it cuts off mid-sentence in the conclusion. Because the essay is under the 250-word minimum, the development of ideas is curtailed. While you present a clear position, the lack of a finished conclusion prevents a full exploration of the topic. To improve, ensure you complete your thoughts and provide a balanced summary. The arguments regarding convenience and the limitations of online shopping are relevant, but they need to be fully articulated to reach higher bands. The under-length nature of the response significantly impacts the overall task achievement score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with clear topic sentences for each section. You use cohesive devices such as 'To start with', 'In addition', and 'On the other hand' to guide the reader. However, the abrupt ending disrupts the flow and cohesion of the final paragraph. To improve, ensure that your concluding paragraph effectively synthesizes your arguments rather than leaving the reader mid-sentence. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the lack of a proper conclusion limits the overall coherence of the piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'metropolis', 'e-commerce', and 'innovation'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'not adapted with this development' (should be 'not adapted to') and 'it fears losing of money' (should be 'fear of losing money'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Focus on using more natural collocations and ensuring that your word forms are accurate in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. However, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'provides different products in affordable price' (should be 'at an affordable price') and 'individual can have' (should be 'individuals can have'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the incomplete final sentence makes it difficult to assess your control over complex sentence endings. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions, as these errors occur frequently throughout the text.
