Student answer (Band 5.5)

The growth of online shopping will one day lead to all shops in towns and cities closing, I really disagree with that I would say not all the people like online shopping.Because sometimes there is size isue ,They have to wait for the home delivery, There is a many problems with online shpping , Some of the people would love to go shopping in store so they can try everything , They can chose easily , and they can explore many stores , That's why i prefer to do offline shopping so i don't have to wait for delivery, I can get it right away whatever i like and i feel it's to easy for everyone to shopping . I ordered few cloths from online platform , I disappointed with the lac of delivery because of I have to attend one of the event and it got delivered on smae day of my event and when i open my delivery box they was some missing items in my order and what i got from them there was some stain on the cloths and there was a size issues as well i really very disappointed with online shopping so i decided to go always in shore for shopping.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear disagreement with the statement. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the argument. While you provide personal reasons for your stance, such as the desire to try on clothes and avoid delivery issues, the ideas are not fully developed or extended. The response lacks a formal structure, such as an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, which is necessary for a balanced discussion. To improve, ensure you expand on your points with more detailed explanations and examples, and aim to meet the minimum word count requirement to fully explore the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay lacks paragraphing, which makes it difficult to follow the progression of your ideas. The text is written as a single, long block, which is not appropriate for an IELTS essay. Cohesive devices are used in a very basic and repetitive manner, such as the frequent use of 'and' and 'because'. There is a lack of logical transitions between sentences, making the flow feel mechanical. To improve, you should organize your response into distinct paragraphs—one for the introduction, two for body arguments, and one for a conclusion—and use a wider variety of linking words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'however' to connect your ideas more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic words like 'shopping', 'clothes', and 'delivery'. There are several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'isue' (issue), 'shpping' (shopping), 'lac' (lack), 'smae' (same), and 'shore' (store). These errors occasionally make the meaning slightly unclear. To achieve a higher band score, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary, including less common lexical items related to the topic of retail and technology, and pay closer attention to spelling and accurate word formation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response consists mostly of simple sentences with frequent grammatical errors. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'there is a many problems'), article usage, and sentence structure (e.g., 'I really very disappointed'). Punctuation is also problematic, with many run-on sentences and a lack of proper sentence boundaries. The range of grammatical structures is very limited, and the frequent errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and pluralization, before attempting more complex structures.
