Student answer (Band 6.5)

In today's world online shopping from different platforms became a trend a which will directly effect the local shops. In this essay we will discus the reason, as far I am concern, I disagree with the notion and provide the reasons in upcoming paragraphs.

To commence with the disagreement, reliability on online platforms is difficult. To explain, purchasing material online will not provide the idea of quality of the product, only pictures and short description won't tell about the quality of the product. For instance, buying the computer table online with the help of picture and explanation will provide the correct size not the strong quality of the table.

Thus, inspection of the any buying material is important before purchasing and that is possible on the local shops only.

Furthermore, urgent and daily needs can be fulfilled by local shops only. To elaborate, for the essential items or urgent requirements doing online shopping will waste the time where as local shops helps to utilize the time buying purchasing items as soon as they are needed. For example, buying fruits and medicines from online store will not be able to provide it as soon as they are required . So with this local shops are immitted and no one can replace them totally.

In conclusion, although online shopping helps to save the time and travelling but, Local shops provides the quality and easy excess to daily usage items such as fruits and medicines. So I believe local vendor shop cannot be replaced with online shopping.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout, arguing against the total closure of physical shops. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide two main reasons—product quality inspection and the need for urgent items—the arguments could be extended with more depth or specific examples. For instance, the point about 'urgent needs' is relevant, but the explanation is slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully explored with more sophisticated reasoning rather than just stating the point and providing a brief example. The introduction is a bit informal and could be more direct in stating your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'So with this local shops are immitted'. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will help improve the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'online platforms' and 'local vendor'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'reliability on online platforms' (should be 'reliance') and 'inspection of the any buying material' (should be 'inspection of any goods'). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, and you tend to repeat words like 'quality' and 'shops'. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms and collocations related to the topic of retail and consumer behaviour.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally affect the flow. Examples include 'online shopping... became a trend a which will directly effect' (should be 'has become' and 'affect'), 'as far I am concern' (should be 'as far as I am concerned'), and 'local shops helps' (subject-verb agreement error). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall accuracy. Focusing on subject-verb agreement, correct verb tenses, and article usage will significantly enhance your grammatical control.
