Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both online shopping and the future of physical shops. However, the position is not clearly stated or maintained throughout the essay. While the introduction mentions both sides, the conclusion is vague and does not explicitly state whether you agree or disagree with the prompt. The ideas are present but remain under-developed; for example, the points about 'lack of choice' and 'old productions' in local shops are mentioned but not fully explained or supported with clear logic. To improve, ensure you take a firm stance in the introduction and provide more detailed, logical support for each of your main arguments in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often unclear due to awkward phrasing and a lack of logical flow between sentences. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly' and 'On the other hand', but they are often applied mechanically or incorrectly, such as 'another thinks' used as a transition. Referencing is sometimes confusing, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. To improve, focus on using linking words more naturally and ensure that each sentence logically follows the one before it to create a smoother, more coherent argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'products', 'items', and 'shops'. There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'people taken use online shopping' and 'they got small price limited'. These errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas clearly. To improve, try to incorporate more precise synonyms and learn common collocations related to business and technology, such as 'consumer behavior', 'brick-and-mortar stores', or 'competitive pricing', rather than relying on generic phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including issues with verb tense, subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper grammatical construction, such as 'In the modern era, people taken use online shopping increase these days'. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the errors present often impede the clarity of the message. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Proofreading for basic errors like 'there' vs 'their' and ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb will significantly improve your score.
