Student answer (Band 7.0)
Increasing demand for internet-based purchasing will one day result in the closure of traditional shops in towns and cities. Although I agree that online shopping can be a cause of shop closures. There will be some shops that will exist because some customers prefer face-to-face interactions.
In recent years, it has been seen that most individuals are totally dependent on online shopping, such as buying clothes, groceries, and even furniture; they are totally relying on online apps and websites. By doing that, they can check the availability of the product, the different colors and sizes, and also the price. People believe that it saves their time and money. This attitude of metropolises can lead to closing the shops. For instance, if a person finds the product or groceries online, they can order even when they are on the way home.
However, people have a lot of benefits of online shopping, some people have a different mindset and give preference to shops due to the fact that they want to purchase the products by touching them and by checking the quality of the product, and they want to try outfits in the trial rooms. Moreover, some do not want to pay the delivery fees and would like to bargain the prize face to face. For example. If a person is not sure about the jeans sizes, they can simply go and get trials as many as they want, which can really help to boost the customer satisfaction level.
To conclude, the importance of online shopping is not negligible, but shops also play a vital role in individuals' lives. The expansion of digital shopping is a great change for us, but it can not replace traditional shops totally. I think shops will continue to exist because of their own advantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that online shopping will not completely replace traditional shops. The ideas are relevant and supported by examples, such as the preference for physical interaction and the ability to try on clothing. However, the development is somewhat limited; the arguments could be more deeply explored to reach a higher band. For instance, the discussion on 'customer satisfaction' is a good point, but it could be expanded by considering the social or economic role of physical stores in communities. The position is consistent throughout, and all parts of the prompt are addressed, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.5 or 7.0, so I have awarded a 6.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In recent years', 'However', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with sentence-level cohesion, such as the sentence fragment 'For instance, if a person finds the product or groceries online, they can order even when they are on the way home.' Despite these minor lapses, the overall structure is coherent and the paragraphing is appropriate.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task. You use some topic-specific terms like 'internet-based purchasing', 'face-to-face interactions', and 'customer satisfaction'. There are some instances of slightly unnatural word choices, such as 'This attitude of metropolises' (which is unclear) and 'bargain the prize' (should be 'price'). While you attempt to use a range of vocabulary, it is not consistently precise or sophisticated. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct context to enhance the clarity and impact of your arguments.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as the sentence fragment 'Although I agree that online shopping can be a cause of shop closures.' (this should be connected to the following sentence). Additionally, there are minor punctuation errors, such as 'For example. If a person...', where a period is used instead of a comma. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring grammatical accuracy will help improve this score.
