Student answer (Band 6.5)

With the rapid development of technology, growth of online purchases are in high demand. Moreover, numerous persons uses internet platforms to do shopping, which is directly affects the shops in the rural and the urban areas. I agree with this statement and this essay will cover all the relevant reasons with examples.

To begin with, nowadays individuals have more haptic schedule which cause less free time for purchases from shops. People do not have proper time to go for shopping in the malls and outlets. In addition to, they get more variety from online stores. For example, according to an survey conducted by google, these days customers prefer e- shopping rather than going to the market. Thus, E-SHOPPING plays vital role in person's lives.

Furthermore, online shopping provide wide range of variety that regular markets do not provide in single roof. To instance, people's are more satisfied with online shopping because they get large numbers of same products in different sizes and colours, get more discount at same goods and services. Therefore, for number of variety and benefits people go for online shopping.

Nevertheless, some of people argued that using online methods never gave option of fitting checks and taking to long time to deliver of products. For example, people can try the sizes of products in the fitting room of malls and outlets and take clothes on same day of shopping to their homes. Hence, using traditional method of shopping is better option.

In conclusion, taking long time for delivery is not important, getting product under one roof with benefits and under the haptic timetable is more beneficial.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding convenience and variety are relevant, and the counter-argument regarding the inability to try on clothes is acknowledged. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the claim that online shopping provides 'more discount' is a generalisation that could be better supported with specific examples. While the task is addressed, the depth of analysis is limited, and the conclusion is slightly repetitive of the body paragraphs rather than synthesising the argument effectively. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the implications of shops closing, such as the impact on local economies or social interaction.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'Nevertheless' are used to signal the progression of ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In addition to, they get more variety'. Additionally, there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, particularly in the third paragraph. The referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure would benefit from more sophisticated transitions to improve the flow between the counter-argument and the final conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'e-shopping', 'outlets', and 'fitting room'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'haptic schedule' (likely meaning 'hectic'), 'according to an survey', and 'taking to long time'. These errors do not impede communication but indicate a limited range of vocabulary. To improve, focus on learning collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct context, rather than relying on direct translations or misremembered terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('growth of online purchases are', 'numerous persons uses'), article misuse ('an survey'), and prepositional errors ('under one roof'). While these errors are noticeable, they rarely prevent the reader from understanding the intended meaning. The punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence construction often feels repetitive. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to reduce the frequency of basic grammatical errors and attempt more varied, error-free complex sentence structures.
