Student answer (Band 7.0)

In recent years online shopping has become increasingly popular. Owing to that many people believe in future physical store shopping is likely to completely replaced by online shopping. I disagree with such notion, although people prefer online shopping due to its convenience but it cannot result in closure of the all the local market in the cities and towns.

There are many advantages to opt for traditional form of shopping. Firstly, unlike window shopping one does not have to wait to get delivery of the product. Also, shopping from the store allows the individuals to assess the quality of the products. It can be crucial while shopping for certain fabric to get an idea about durability of the items. Many online shopping websites and applications put an attractive photographs of the products but in reality it differ from the original products which is been delivered to the customers. For instance, many people reported that they get different shade of clothes and fitting issues when they purchased it from online applications.

The trust for local market shops and safety are the another reasons why people are inclined towards shopping from stores. The majority of E-commerce sources ask for such details including personal information, residential address and bank details. Consequently, some cyber criminals can have access to such crucial data and misuse it later. The spam calls are really good example of this issue, buyers get calls asking for OPT as an mandatory requirement to get the delivery of the product. These fraud calls result in loosing additional money from the bank account.

In conclusion, while online shopping is becoming popular due to its convenience. I believe shopping from shops will be preferred choice of shopping by many people in future as well because it provides quality assurance and it is safer than online shopping.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have clearly stated your position in the introduction and maintained it throughout the essay. The response addresses the prompt by providing two main arguments: the ability to inspect product quality and the security concerns associated with online transactions. While the ideas are relevant, they could be further extended with more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. For instance, the discussion on cybercrime is a strong point, but the connection between spam calls and the closure of physical shops could be more explicitly linked to the consumer's long-term preference for safety. Overall, the task is well-addressed with a clear, consistent viewpoint.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a distinct argument. You use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Also', 'Consequently', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader through your points. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words. Referencing is generally clear, though there are minor issues with article usage (e.g., 'the all the local market') which slightly affect the smoothness of the text. Overall, the progression of ideas is easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'E-commerce', 'durability', and 'mandatory requirement'. There are some instances of awkward phrasing or minor word-choice errors, such as 'opt for traditional form of shopping' (should be 'opt for the traditional form') and 'loosing' (should be 'losing'). While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, the precision is occasionally lacking. To improve, focus on collocations and ensuring that word forms are used correctly in context. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly throughout the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is always clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the all the local market'), pluralization ('an attractive photographs'), and verb agreement ('it differ'). Some sentences are slightly clunky, such as 'it cannot result in closure of the all the local market'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing your control over complex sentence structures and proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement will help improve your accuracy.
