Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is indeed true that in fast paced world people are more fascinated for online shopping because of this all retail shop on the street of cities will diminished in future. I strongly disagree to this statement. My opinion will be justified in the following paragraphs.

Discussing the reasons to prove my opinion, the foremost one I shall put forward is that shopping on street give experience of joy By this I mean that people can enjoy street food while shopping that make browsing fun. Secondly, individuals spent some quality time with their family and friends. For instance shopping with friends grant some time have fun talks. That make relation healthier.

Additionally, as elderly people have habit of trying on new clothes prior purchasing. As an example my mother has tendency to test the fit of clothes before buying so she usually prefer to shop from local street. Furthermore, people have option to bargain for things while purchasing from the local town shop. To illustrate, yesterday I and my friend went for shopping for a new clothes, we get the clothes in half of the price from original after bargaining that was great fun.

On other hand many people may agree to this statment. They argue that people will have less time in future due to hectic schedule. So they prefer online shopping instead of shop from street. They also argue that person can easily change and return the things that they order from online website.

All in all it can be said that online shopping is a convience and time saving. However my argument that shopping from local town shop have fun experience, individuals can also enjoy with friends and family while street shopping and no chance to get falty item. So it can be said that shop in towns will not close in the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The main ideas—social interaction and the tactile nature of shopping—are relevant. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument about bargaining is supported by a personal anecdote, but the broader economic or social implications are not fully explored. The counter-argument is acknowledged, but the rebuttal is brief. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more depth and ensure that the link between your examples and the main argument is more robust.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'foremost', 'secondly', 'furthermore', and 'on the other hand'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'Discussing the reasons to prove my opinion'. Additionally, some transitions between sentences are abrupt, and the referencing (e.g., 'that make relation healthier') is occasionally unclear. Improving the variety and flow of your linking words will help your writing feel more cohesive.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. You use some repetitive phrasing, such as 'shop from local street' and 'shopping from local town shop'. There are also some collocation errors, such as 'diminished in future' (should be 'diminish') and 'falty item' (spelling error). While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, the range is limited. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated synonyms and ensuring correct word forms and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('shopping... give experience'), missing articles ('for a new clothes'), and incorrect verb tenses ('we get the clothes'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with sentence boundaries. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, especially regarding plurals and verb forms.
