Student answer (Band 6.5)

Advancement in technology is rising day by day at a large scale. The increase in development of e- shopping will completely transform the entire traditional way of shopping from shops to online only. I partially agree with the given notion as there is a rising sale of product online rather than in store purchasing.

To begin with, closing of all markets will be seen in future due to era of online shopping, because the new generation in this world is choosing to buy things online rather than going to shops. To explicit, People are highly using online apps to order even small things to waste their time of travelling and getting stuck in traffic. Moreover, Some people do not feel comfortable to interact with other like shopkeepers due to their social anxiety and feel purchasing things online more comfortable. Furthermore, government can also promote using of shopping apps online to do shopping to protect the pollution increase, as online shopping will reduce the use of vehicles on roads which will lower the amount of pollution in air and traffic congestion.

On the other side, rapid growth in e-shopping trend cannot lead to complete closing of stores in this world because there are some specific items that people find more safe to buy in store only. To elaborate it, Individuals who wants to buy some expensive jewellery like gold, silver or diamond do not prefer to purchase it through apps. As there are higher chances of getting fake jewellery and getting into a scam through a fake website. For example, last year a news was out that a women in a small town lost almost one lakh on a purchase made for gold from a newly launched website and which later found to be fake. Thus, due to some risks of shopping on websites and consumers demand for in store purchasing will not let that complete removal of shops.

In conclusion, the popularity of online market will not result in the shut down of shops permanently as there is still a greater demand of in store buying. But, if the problems start to be met properly than there is some chances that the world will completely shift to online shopping.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that is maintained throughout. The arguments are relevant, such as the convenience of online shopping versus the security concerns of high-value items. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the point about pollution is interesting, it is not fully connected to the main argument regarding the closure of physical shops. The conclusion is slightly contradictory, as it suggests shops will not close but then introduces a conditional statement about a potential total shift. To reach a higher band, ensure that every supporting point directly reinforces the central thesis without introducing new, underdeveloped arguments in the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'On the other side', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'To explicit' (should be 'To be explicit') and 'if the problems start to be met properly'. Additionally, the referencing within sentences is occasionally unclear, which affects the flow. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the link between the paragraph about pollution and the overall argument about the survival of physical stores could be more robust.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'notion', 'congestion', and 'permanently'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'rising sale of product' (should be 'rising sales of products'), 'protect the pollution increase' (should be 'reduce pollution'), and 'met properly' (should be 'addressed effectively'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of the argument. Expanding the range of topic-specific collocations would improve the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the pollution', 'a women'), subject-verb agreement ('Individuals who wants'), and preposition usage ('interact with other'). Some sentences are slightly clunky, such as 'there is some chances that the world will completely shift'. While complex structures are attempted, they are not always error-free. The punctuation is generally functional, but the control over sentence construction needs to be more consistent to reach a higher band.
