Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is considered that all stores whether it is in villages or metropolitan cities will be closed on day as a result of e-shopping. Personally, I disagree with the statement, supportive argument of this will be outline in the upcoming paragraphs.

One of the important reasons why internet shopping will not replace the shops is people's choice. In other words, most of customers love to buy clothes at the brand showrooms. Since they have a chance to check the fiber and quality of clothes, they may choose better outfit. Take a example of film actors. They often wear clothes before buying it. Moreover, if a person goes to store to buy outfit, they have a chance to check the outfit according to their body shape and their color tone that which clothes suits better on him.

Furthermore, there are many things that may not be possible to buy before trying it in the physical stores. For example, perfumes, which is impossible for any individual to know the scent of any perfumes until they tried it; therefore, they have to visit the shops to buy it. Not only this, although online shopping is fast and convenient, many times customers face difficulties in delivery and correct item. To explain, sometimes items that they order is misplaced or wrong size as a result of this they have to return it which takes more time as compared to physical going to the shopping malls.

In conclusion, I believe that online shopping will not replace the branded showrooms since many individuals love to buy things in-store, and it is easy for them to check the quality of product.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a disagreement with the idea that all shops will close. The position is maintained throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the example of 'film actors' is not particularly relevant to the general public's shopping habits, and the argument regarding perfumes is a bit narrow. To reach a higher band, you should expand on broader economic or social reasons why physical retail persists, such as the 'experience economy' or the need for immediate gratification, rather than focusing solely on product testing.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'In other words', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as in the sentence 'supportive argument of this will be outline', where the reference is slightly awkward. The flow is generally smooth, but the progression of ideas could be more sophisticated to achieve a higher score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing for clear communication. You use some topic-specific terms like 'metropolitan', 'showrooms', and 'convenient'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'physical going to the shopping malls' (should be 'physically going') and 'check the fiber' (should be 'check the fabric'). The range is sufficient but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Focusing on more precise collocations would improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('a example', 'the fiber'), subject-verb agreement ('items that they order is'), and prepositional usage. Some sentences are slightly clunky, such as 'that which clothes suits better on him'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the variety of error-free complex sentences is recommended.
