Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that online shopping will one day lead to all shops in town and cities closing. While some people believe that it will be the opposite. I definitely agree with this view. This essay will explain the reasons and give relevant examples for my opinion.
To begin with, the world is becomes AI dependent and everything is becoming available online which leads to saving time, energy, fuel and give convenience to customers sitting at home. For instance, there are many online shopping sites like door-dash, uber eats, zepto, etc that provide every essential thing necessary for daily use like produce items, clothing, medical products, etc at just one page which increases the reliability towards online brands rather than physical shops; also which allows consumers to receive products within few hours eventually saving their time, energy and fuel.
Secondly, shopping online also allows individuals to compare prices among various apps and find the cheap ones. Moreover, it also allows consumers to get the latest updates on products by comparing their features and choose the best product according to their preference by providing them coupon discounts or promotional deals unlike shops. For example, when we shop electronic devices online for the first time online sites help us to compare prices between apps and provide consumers with discount code or deals which reduces the price from the original amount leading to build customer relationship and loyalty, whereas if the shopping is done in-person no discounts or promotional deals are provided.
To conclude, various factors affect the change in shopping patterns with changing time like convenience, price, time, fuel, energy, etc leading people to switch from traditional purchasing habits to modern shopping habits.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that online shopping will lead to the closure of physical shops. However, the development is somewhat limited. The argument relies heavily on listing benefits of online shopping (convenience, price, speed) rather than exploring the counter-argument or the nuance of whether 'all' shops will close. The conclusion is quite brief and does not fully synthesize the points made. While the position is clear, the depth of analysis could be improved by considering why some physical shops might survive, such as those offering experiences or immediate services, to provide a more balanced and comprehensive response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Secondly', and 'Moreover', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly repetitive, such as the frequent listing of 'time, energy, and fuel'. The referencing is generally clear, though some sentences are long and slightly cluttered, which affects the flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, providing a clear structure to the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'reliability', 'promotional deals', and 'customer loyalty'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is noticeable repetition of basic terms like 'shopping', 'products', and 'apps'. Some word choices are slightly awkward, such as 'build customer relationship' instead of 'build customer relationships'. To reach a higher band, the student should aim for more varied synonyms and more precise collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'the world is becomes AI dependent' (incorrect verb form) and 'at just one page' (preposition error). Additionally, some sentences are run-on or lack proper punctuation, such as the second sentence in the introduction: 'While some people believe that it will be the opposite. I definitely agree...'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency and accuracy of the writing.
