Student answer (Band 6.0)

The trend of online shopping is becoming very popular among the individuals all around the world. Many believe that this trend could be the prominent reason to shut down the shops in cities and towns. I am totally disagree with this notion and personally believe that nothing can replace the traditional way of shopping which gives a true satisfaction the physical appearance of the product an individual is buying for itself.

No doubt, online shopping is making our life easier but, there is no physical satisfaction involved while purchasing. For instance, if somebody is out for the shopping of clothes they can simply try the outfit according to their need and fit. Moreover, they can see themselves in the mirror to see how it suits them and easier for them to make a decision instantly. One can check the quality of the fabric as well.

Additionally, sometimes online sellers are selling the cheap quality of the products as they are sitting far away from their customers. Many buyers post their reviews as sometimes they receive broken gadgets, rough packaging, missing out parts of the product. For instance, last month, I ordered a toy car for my four-year old niece. First the parcel got delayed for one week, additionally when I opened it, there was no battery inside which was supposed to included with the toy.

In conclusion, I would like to restate that online shopping is good to some extent but, totally dependency could result in dissatisfaction in some cases.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against the idea that online shopping will lead to the closure of all physical shops. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide relevant points regarding the benefits of physical shopping (trying on clothes) and the drawbacks of online shopping (quality issues), the argument could be strengthened by discussing why physical shops might adapt or why certain consumer behaviors remain tied to physical locations. The conclusion is a bit brief and does not fully synthesize the main arguments presented in the body paragraphs. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with more nuanced reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Additionally', and 'For instance' to link ideas. However, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is slightly abrupt, and some cohesive links feel a bit mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved to create a more natural progression of ideas. Ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly supports your overall thesis to improve the logical flow of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'prominent reason', 'traditional way', and 'dissatisfaction'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'I am totally disagree' (should be 'I totally disagree') and 'the physical appearance of the product' (which is slightly awkward in this context). You attempt to use some less common vocabulary, but these attempts are occasionally imprecise. To improve, focus on using collocations more accurately and expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary related to commerce and consumer behavior.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'shopping of clothes' (should be 'shopping for clothes'), 'cheap quality of the products' (should be 'poor quality products'), and 'was supposed to included' (should be 'was supposed to be included'). These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice and prepositional phrases to enhance your grammatical accuracy.
