Student answer (Band 6.0)
It would not be unfair to state that nowadays the trend of online shopping grown rapidly, one day shops would get closed in the town and cities. I agrees with the given statement.
To commence with, the agreement people can buy goods while siting at home anytime and it is also save their travel time. In other words, sometimes many people do not have an extra time to go out for the shopping due to their busy schedule. Moreover, people can shop online anywhere without any travel cost. For example, a survey was conducted in the USA, they found that 70 percent of people prefer online shopping in order to saves their time, and it is available anytime. As a result, the trend of digital marketing increased rapidly due to time management and save travel cost.
Furthermore, people usually get more offers as well as varieties of products are available on virtual marketing. To explain it, nowadays many people prefer to buy goods at cheaper price instead of expensive. E markets usually offers large number of items at lower prices than the stores. In addition, sometime people are compromised with their choices when they shop in stores, If they use online platforms for shopping they would get different products according to their choices. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of the statement. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide reasons such as convenience and variety, the argument that all physical shops will close is a significant claim that requires more nuanced exploration. For instance, you could have discussed the social or experiential value of physical stores to provide a more balanced or deeply developed argument. The ideas are relevant, but the supporting examples, such as the personal anecdote about the shirt, are a bit simplistic and lack the depth required for a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices like 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'To explain it' or 'In other words' used in contexts where they don't perfectly fit the flow of logic. Additionally, there are some issues with referencing and sentence-level cohesion, which occasionally makes the progression of ideas feel a bit disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words would help the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your main points. However, there are several instances of inaccurate word choice and collocation, such as 'virtual marketing' instead of 'e-commerce' or 'online retail', and 'ones upon a time' which is an idiom used incorrectly here. You also use 'digital marketing' when you mean 'online shopping'. While the meaning is clear, the range of vocabulary is somewhat limited and lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Focusing on topic-specific collocations would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You frequently struggle with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'online shopping grown rapidly', 'shops would get closed', 'it is also save their travel time') and article usage. There are also punctuation errors, such as comma splices (e.g., '...in the town and cities. I agrees with the given statement.'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader and indicate a lack of control over more complex grammatical structures.
