Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 182 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the arguments remain superficial and lack sufficient depth or supporting detail. While you have stated a position, the supporting points are repetitive and rely on vague references to surveys rather than logical analysis. To improve, you must expand your arguments by exploring the implications of online shopping on local economies, employment, and social interaction. The conclusion is also very brief and does not effectively summarize the main points. You need to provide a more comprehensive discussion to fully address all parts of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is weak. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'In second notion' and 'To begin with'. Referencing is often unclear, and the transition between sentences feels disjointed. The paragraphing is present but lacks a logical flow that guides the reader through your argument. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'on the other hand') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects back to your main thesis.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas. There are frequent spelling errors, such as 'papularity', 'incresing', 'prespective', 'worthly', and 'reviel'. These errors, combined with basic word choices like 'masses' and 'happy', indicate a limited range of vocabulary. To achieve a higher band score, you should work on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure correct spelling. Avoid repeating the same words throughout the essay and try to incorporate synonyms and collocations that are appropriate for a formal discussion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('masses are do not want'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple and lack the complexity required for higher band scores. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures before attempting more complex ones. Pay close attention to verb tenses and ensure that your sentences are grammatically complete. Proofreading for basic errors like missing articles and incorrect verb forms will significantly improve the clarity of your writing.
