Student answer (Band 6.0)
The increasing growth of online shopping will soon affect the shops in the town and cities. The recent introduction of technology has brought a lot of significant changes in regard to shopping, but it will be practically impossible to suggest that it will lead to closure of physical shops.
The impact of modernization is really spreading rapidly across different town and cities. The easy access to mobile phones and computers has made it seamless for a greater number of people to rely on internet shopping than going to shop around within their localities. It is very convenient and some times less cheaper compared with the physical shops.
However, this opinion is entirely unfounded and is a myth, because over the years, the public has build patronage and confidence to quality of goods and services they can see. Many uneducated elderly people will always prefer to shop within and bargain for favourable price. It is also important to note the level of poverty which is another factor that will likely limit people access to online buying.
For instance, a significant number of the public believe they will be scammed which is a valid point. I recently ordered for an LG washing machine but the delivery guy brought a different product with lesser quality. And was an eye opener for me that online shopping is some time problematic and might lead to legal battle.
In conclusion, I acknowledge the ease access to products online but also disagree the it will affect the operation of physical shops which has been in existence from generations.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against the idea that physical shops will close. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention factors like the elderly population and poverty, these points are not fully explored or linked back to the core argument with sufficient depth. The example provided regarding the washing machine is personal and relevant, but the overall argument remains somewhat superficial. To improve, ensure that each paragraph provides a more detailed analysis of why online shopping cannot replace the social and sensory experience of physical retail, rather than just listing potential obstacles to online shopping.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions are abrupt. For example, the shift from the benefits of online shopping to the 'myth' of their dominance in the third paragraph lacks a smooth connective phrase. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the final sentence where 'the it will' contains a grammatical error that disrupts the cohesion of the concluding thought.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'modernization', 'patronage', and 'favourable'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'less cheaper' (a double comparative error), 'limit people access' (missing possessive 'people's'), and 'ease access' (should be 'easy access'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring that word forms are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include 'the public has build patronage' (should be 'built'), 'confidence to quality' (should be 'confidence in the quality'), and 'disagree the it will' (should be 'disagree that it will'). Additionally, there are minor issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement. While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic tense and prepositional errors.
