Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the 21st century, there is a trend towards people purchasing things through internet. This development threatens all physical stores in a way that they are going to be shut down in near future. I completely support this statement. My inclination is explained further.

The foremost reason behind purchasing goods online is that visiting stores are quite expensive and time-consuming. It is a fact that customers generally takes a ride to shopping mall and walk through store to store in order to find a products which satisfy their interests. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 113 words. Consequently, the task is not fully addressed, and the ideas are severely underdeveloped. While you state a clear position in the introduction, the essay stops abruptly mid-sentence, leaving the argument incomplete and failing to provide the necessary depth or examples required for a full task response. To improve, you must ensure you complete the essay and provide sufficient supporting evidence for your claims.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows a basic attempt at logical organization with an introduction and the start of a body paragraph. However, because the text is incomplete, it is difficult to assess the overall progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'The foremost reason' and 'Moreover', which help link ideas, but the abrupt ending prevents a coherent conclusion or a fully developed argument. To improve, focus on planning your structure to ensure you have enough time to write a full introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally appropriate for the topic, such as 'purchasing things', 'physical stores', and 'time-consuming'. However, the range is limited, and there are some inaccuracies, such as 'visiting stores are quite expensive' (should be 'visiting stores is') and 'incur spending related to restaurants bills' (should be 'restaurant bills'). The vocabulary is sufficient for the limited content provided but lacks the variety and precision needed for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are several grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of your writing. For example, 'purchasing things through internet' is missing an article ('the internet'), and 'customers generally takes a ride' contains a subject-verb agreement error ('take'). You attempt some complex structures, but the frequency of errors is noticeable. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Ensure you proofread your work to catch these basic errors before finishing.
