Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is argued that a rise of e-commerce would destroy the business of local merchants. This essay disagrees with this statement because local shop owners can sell their products online and lots of people would have trust issues with online platforms.

As technology will advance, a number of e-commerce websites would contact regional businesses to register on their platforms. In result, a substantial growth of the merchants might be possible as their orders would increase and there could be unprecedented sell over far places. This is because, features like personalize recommendations and flash sales would draw attention of many future customers, that will increase the popularity of the business. For instance, over digital platforms a huge numbers of customers would see the local products from the small businesses, and if they provide good quality of merchandise, sell will rise.

However, some people who dislike purchases over online platforms because of trust issues, and they would visit the locals for fine products, that will increases their reputation. As there are higher chances of cyber fraud and cheat, people may fall in traps and they might have to go through from long legal battles to get back their money, eventually they would lose their faith or trust in the online shopping. For example, If an individual wants to complain about the product or wants to return, he might possibly wait longer for response and sometimes sellers would not been satisfied with the reason.

In conclusion, it is said that the expansion of Amazon and Alibaba could reduce the business of local businessmen. This essay maintains that it possibly does not have any negative impacts because enrolling for business over the digital markets and become successful to retain the trust of people, the local shops or sellers would not fall.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against the idea that online shopping will lead to the closure of all physical shops. The ideas are relevant, focusing on the integration of local businesses into e-commerce and the persistence of consumer trust issues. However, the development is somewhat limited. The argument regarding 'trust issues' is a bit repetitive, and the explanation of how local shops will survive is slightly underdeveloped. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or deeper analysis of how physical shops can adapt their business models beyond just joining online platforms.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'However' and 'In conclusion,' to signal transitions. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical phrasing and some awkward transitions. For example, 'In result' is an incorrect collocation for 'As a result.' Additionally, some sentences feel disjointed, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, which makes the progression of ideas feel slightly forced rather than natural. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words would significantly enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'e-commerce,' 'unprecedented,' and 'cyber fraud.' However, there are several instances of inaccurate word choice and collocation that limit your score. Phrases like 'sell over far places' and 'go through from long legal battles' are unnatural. Furthermore, you use 'sell' as a noun where 'sales' would be correct. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, the lack of precision and the presence of errors in word formation prevent you from reaching a higher band. Focus on learning common collocations to sound more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a positive step. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('that will increases their reputation'), incorrect verb forms ('sellers would not been satisfied'), and awkward phrasing ('some people who dislike purchases over online platforms'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not fully impede communication. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like tense consistency and pluralization before moving on to more complex structures.
