Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this technical era, majority of people believe that shopping malls and shops will be closed as online shopping market will take place on top in villages and metro cities. I partially agree with this statement and the same will be discussed in the upcoming paragraphs.

On the one hand , many people like to buy items from online because they want to save their time and money. To add more, people do not want to hassle to visit store in person and buy items as they are good in technology so they are using their phones and laptops to order as they can get more varities in items and compare all things on online. Moreover, online platforms give more option to consumer to buy product which attreacts people . These reasons influence online shopping which impacts on the stores and malls negatively. It will be closing store in countryside and cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, although the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. You successfully identify reasons for both the growth of online shopping and the continued relevance of physical stores. However, the arguments lack depth; for instance, the points regarding 'cheating' and 'fraud' are mentioned twice in the second body paragraph without adding new information. To improve, ensure each supporting point introduces a distinct aspect of the argument rather than restating the same concept. The conclusion is a bit brief and could have better synthesized the main arguments to reinforce your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'First of all', and 'To sum up' to signal transitions. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'It will be closing store in countryside and cities', where the subject 'It' does not clearly refer back to a specific noun. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns have clear antecedents would enhance the logical progression of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'online platforms', 'consumer', and 'delivered items'. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'take place on top' and 'do not want to hassle to visit'. Additionally, there is some repetition of basic words like 'items' and 'products'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and a wider range of vocabulary to express your ideas with greater sophistication and variety.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the online shopping market'), subject-verb agreement ('many people like to buy... as they are good in technology'), and preposition usage. Some sentences are slightly disjointed, such as 'It will be closing store in countryside and cities', which contains a tense error. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy will significantly improve your writing.
