Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's world, people are so obsessed with online shopping rather than prioritizing going to the shops, while some believe in-person shopping only. I have a mixed preference for this. Let's discuss the statement.
To begin with, online shopping is taking the lead, and people are getting attracted towards the choice and appearance of the collection. Moreover, online shopping has the advantage of getting multiple offers and promo codes that we can apply. For Instance, once the item is viewed in the application and left without buying, it will allow access to prompt the consumer to buy, and it will also offer discounts. There is even the flexibility of getting things home without even going out, and a policy of refund or exchange within 90 days even makes it easier for consumers to purchase without hesitation.
On the flip side of the coin, some people still believe in shopping in-store as there is a chance to check the material and size for everyone. Furthermore, in-store, the consumer has options to get different sizes, whereas an online store has a high chance of getting sold out. Apart from that, consumers have access to new arrivals, which they can try, but online shoppers don't have an opportunity to do that. I think people will keep going to in-store even in the future considering these advantages.
After discussing the aforementioned reasons, I believe that people have different choices according to their preference. Some like to go for shopping while others order online as they get familiar with online shopping. I support both ways of shopping.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the rise of online shopping and the enduring appeal of physical stores. However, the position is somewhat neutral and lacks a strong, consistent argument. While you acknowledge both sides, the task asks for your opinion on whether all shops will close. Your conclusion that you 'support both ways' is a bit vague and does not fully engage with the specific prediction in the prompt (that all shops will close). To reach a higher band, ensure your position is clearly stated in the introduction and maintained throughout, with more robust development of why you believe physical shops will or will not survive.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'Moreover,' and 'On the flip side of the coin' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical. The concluding paragraph is quite brief and does not effectively synthesize the arguments presented earlier. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your concluding paragraph provides a more comprehensive summary of your main points rather than just restating that you have mixed preferences.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'obsessed,' 'flexibility,' and 'new arrivals.' However, the language is often repetitive and lacks the precision required for higher bands. For example, phrases like 'getting attracted towards' and 'getting things home' are somewhat informal and imprecise. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology. Avoid relying on 'get' as a catch-all verb. Expanding your vocabulary to include more sophisticated synonyms will help you convey your ideas with greater clarity and impact.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'people are so obsessed with online shopping rather than prioritizing going to the shops' and 'there is a chance to check the material and size for everyone.' Some phrasing is slightly awkward, such as 'the consumer has options to get different sizes.' To reach a higher band, focus on improving your control over complex sentence structures and ensuring subject-verb agreement and preposition usage are consistently accurate throughout your writing.
