Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by providing a clear position (partial agreement). However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention time-saving benefits and security concerns, the arguments lack depth and specific analysis regarding the future of physical shops. For instance, the claim that online shopping will lead to closures is not fully explored in relation to the 'one day' aspect of the prompt. To improve, ensure that each paragraph provides a more detailed explanation of how your points directly support your stance on the future of physical retail.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices like 'In brief', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and some transitions feel forced or repetitive. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the link between the survey and the conclusion is slightly disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas would help elevate the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your ideas, but there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'folks can save their time' (informal), 'some individuals are fear about' (grammatical error), and 'individuals often serious about their debit, credit cards'. These errors occasionally impede the flow of your argument. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoid informal language like 'folks' or 'boon'. Ensure that you use words in their correct grammatical form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that are noticeable. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('people saves their time', 'fraud rate... were increased'), incorrect verb forms ('individuals often serious about'), and punctuation errors (spacing around commas and periods). While these errors do not completely prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall quality of the writing. Focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and consistent punctuation will significantly improve your score.
