Student answer (Band 6.0)
With the advancement of technology and expansion of e-commerce the online shopping have been increasing around the globe. Some people argue that it will cause the complete closure of traditional retails. I partly agree with this assertion, while I accept that it poses a threat to retails. Despite its benefits but I do not believe it will result in the complete closure of all physical shops.
Firstly, I would like to explain the benefits of online shopping. the most important factor is the online platforms which is accessible to everyone whether ,people are at their homes or offices so that they can easily find their articles within a single click. For instance, during COVID pandemic people was easily accessible to online platforms such as, Alibaba, Amazon and many others for shopping rather than going out to buy their favourite articles.
The second reason is the refund policy of online shops they can easily exchange the articles if someone, find their article size was not perfect within the days of company exchange policy and also they can offer discounts on their available articles on special occasions. Moreover, online shops have lower operating costs. They do not need to pay high rents for prime locations and hire a large number of staffs like physical shops.
Despite all the benefits of online shopping we should not neglect the value of physical shopping. Although, we can easily buy our required article with in no time by surpass the delivery time. Consequently ,we will enjoy the vibes of shopping ,while enjoying eating some delicious food near shopping centres as we did before. We could also spend our time with our children while doing shopping.
In conclusion, although online shopping is a game changer due to its convenience , exchange policy and discounts. Furthermore, it will cause the closure of some physical shops but, physical shops will survive by offering experiences that online cannot .Therefore, I disagree that all shops will close.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You acknowledge the growth of e-commerce while arguing that physical shops will persist due to the experiential value they offer. The ideas are relevant, though some points, such as the 'refund policy' argument, are slightly underdeveloped and could benefit from more specific elaboration. The conclusion effectively summarizes your stance. To reach a higher band, ensure that every supporting point is fully explained with a clear link back to the main argument regarding the survival of physical retail.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Firstly', 'The second reason', and 'In conclusion', to guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Despite its benefits but I do not believe' (which contains a redundant 'but'). Additionally, the use of punctuation, particularly with commas, is occasionally inconsistent, which disrupts the flow of some sentences. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'advancement', 'e-commerce', and 'operating costs'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'people was easily accessible to online platforms' (should be 'had easy access to') and 'surpass the delivery time'. There is also some repetition of the word 'articles' when referring to products. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary to avoid repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the online shopping have been increasing', 'people was easily accessible') and awkward phrasing ('by surpass the delivery time'). Punctuation is also problematic, with unnecessary commas appearing in several places, such as 'whether ,people are'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and sentence structure accuracy.
