Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people argue that local shops in cities and towns will close in future due to online shopping popularity. However, shopping from offline stores have different thing many people believe that buying from them. This essay would throw some light on both aspects to see things in the right perspective.
On one hand, it is true that online shopping trend from is increasing day by day such as from Amazon, BestBuy etc. These websites provide a lot of products on their sites with discounts and vouchers. For instance, if a person wants to buy a jacket he can go online and search that product on google.
As a result, he can compare that product price at different platforms before make a right decision and can save some money. Moreover, people do not have enough time to go out due to busy lifestyle so they prefer to buy products online which somehow have bad impact on local business.
On the other hand, buying things from local markets is different thing many folks prefer to go out with friends and family for shopping. Where they can feel the products quality before buy anything which can help them to choose right products like clothes they can wear and check their sizes. Also some local stores have handmade products which are only available offline so people have to go their to buy. Furthermore, it is easy to return and exchange products from lock market coz we can discuss with them about exchange and return.
In conclusion, although buying products online can reduce local shops sales and people can get some discounts. I believe that local shops in town are good way of shopping and can not disappear totally due to online shopping.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument regarding the future of local shops. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the convenience of online shopping and the social/tactile benefits of physical stores, the arguments lack depth and specific, well-developed examples. The position is clear, but the conclusion is slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, ensure that each main point is fully extended with more detailed reasoning or illustrative examples rather than just listing features. The essay covers all parts of the task but remains at a fairly superficial level of analysis.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On one hand', 'On the other hand', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'buying from them' which lacks a clear antecedent. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that ideas follow a more sophisticated logical progression rather than just a list of points.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'online shopping', 'local markets', and 'discounts'. However, the range is somewhat limited and repetitive. There are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'throw some light on both aspects' and 'lock market' (likely a typo for 'local market'). To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations. Avoid informal abbreviations like 'coz' and ensure that word choices are more varied to demonstrate a higher level of lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('shopping... have different thing'), incorrect preposition usage ('go their to buy'), and awkward sentence construction ('buying from them... many people believe that buying from them'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in sentence boundaries and missing articles. To achieve a higher score, focus on improving the accuracy of your complex structures and proofreading for basic grammatical slips, particularly with verb forms and pluralization.
