Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's era, with advancement of technology, choice of e-shopping has grown exponentially. Due to this, some people believe that it will lead to shutting down all shops in the city. I completely disagree with this and will justify my point in the upcoming paragraphs.

Firstly, This paragraph will highlight reasons that why offline shopping is still relevant. There are various commodities still exist which most of individuals will not prefer to buy online. To exemplify the same, big purchases such as Television or Air conditioner, people always prefer to buy from offline stores. So that they can verify every point in-person before making final decision as these things generally come at high cost. Moreover, while purchasing clothes or foot-wear the return rate is too high on any online platform. Because, many people fail to predict their actual size just by checking online charts. All in all, these picture clearly depicts that shops in towns or city is required for satisfactory purchase.

Secondly, online platforms cannot build trust as much as offline shops can create. This is because many products do not provide return facility online. Although, some provides exchange opportunity but in some cases doing such process becomes very complicated. For example, on e-commerce platforms such as Amazon it is seen that for exchanging product one need to buy another product compalsory, which many people do not want as they might not satisfied with online service in one go. Collectively, all this situations clearly shows importance of offline shopping.

On the other hand, online shopping gives one the facility to buy commodities in just few clicks without travelling for hours to find their right choice. Hence, for the working people it feel like a boon. But, as mentioned above this cannot be true for every individuals and every product. Because each person has their different mindset. Hence, concluding that all shops in city will close one day cannot be correct.

To pen down, unquestionably, online shopping has their own customer base, but still in many situations one will definitely go for in-person shopping.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. You have provided relevant reasons for your disagreement, such as the need for physical inspection of high-cost items and the challenges of online returns. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive, and the arguments could be more nuanced. For instance, the discussion on 'trust' and 'return facilities' could be expanded with more sophisticated examples to reach a higher band. Overall, the task is fully addressed, but the depth of analysis remains at a functional level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'All in all, these picture clearly depicts'. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by varying the sentence structure and reducing the reliance on repetitive linking phrases.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'exponentially', 'commodities', and 'in-person'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'compalsory' (spelling error), 'doing such process', and 'it feel like a boon'. The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. To improve, focus on learning collocations (e.g., 'return policy' rather than 'return facility') and ensuring accurate word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('these picture clearly depicts', 'some provides exchange opportunity') and article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas and capitalization issues. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed correctly.
