Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often argued that with the advent of technological advancement, online shopping gained popularity among the people and most of the local shops in the towns and cities are facing huge losses and they are about to close. I completely agree with this statement as huge variety of products and payment options provided by these e-commerce sites are attracting people towards shopping online.
First of all, shopping online is considered as one stop shop for all the products because most of the websites provide everything under one roof. Additionally, they also provide to pay through different payment options such as credit card, debit card, and through e-banking. With the different payment options, many e-commerce platforms gives the option of monthly installments as well which also fascinate buyers. For instance, Numerous studies have consistently found that 90% of people who born after 2005 prefer to shop online.
Secondly, convenience is also a major contributing factor for this shift as individuals can have access to customer support for return and refund from the comfort of home. Moreover, the are number of fast e-commerce platforms as well which provides the delivery under 10 mins and also at discounted price. As a result, folks even prefer to shop their groceries online rather than going to local shops. For instance, Blink it is a new platform in India which provide delivery under 15 mins not only for groceries but also for clothes and electronics.
In a nutshell, variety of options and convenience along with 24/7 customer support is alluring people to shop online which can cause the closure of local stores.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have clearly stated your position and addressed the prompt by discussing the convenience and variety offered by online shopping. The ideas are relevant and supported by examples, such as the mention of 'Blinkit' and the shopping habits of younger generations. However, the response could be improved by acknowledging the counter-argument—that some physical shops might survive by offering experiences or services that online platforms cannot replicate. This would provide a more balanced and nuanced discussion, which is necessary for higher band scores. Overall, the task is addressed well, but the development of ideas remains somewhat one-sided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use cohesive devices such as 'First of all,' 'Additionally,' 'Moreover,' and 'In a nutshell' to guide the reader through your argument. While the progression is generally clear, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Additionally, there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'the are number of fast e-commerce platforms,' where the phrasing is slightly awkward. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would enhance the flow and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'advent,' 'e-commerce,' 'installments,' and 'alluring.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, you use 'fascinate buyers' instead of 'attract buyers,' and 'the are number of' is a grammatical error that affects lexical precision. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for the higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a positive step. However, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'most of the local shops... are about to close' (tense consistency), 'they also provide to pay' (incorrect verb pattern), and 'many e-commerce platforms gives' (subject-verb agreement). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article errors, such as 'the are number of' and 'provide delivery under 15 mins.' While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tenses will help improve your accuracy.
