Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this technologically advanced era, the trend of online shopping has become more prevalent from last decade. Online shopping is particularly known for its convenience and accessibility. Some experts reckon that the increasing demand of online shopping will result in closing all shops in towns one day. From my perspective, online shopping trend cannot completely replace the traditional method, hence I disagree with this statement. This essay will elucidate my viewpoint in the subsequent paragraphs.
To commence with, the booming trend of online shopping is developing considerably. However, there are several factors which cannot entirely close the shopping from physical stores. A large number of population choose to go to the market and purchase that item only after a quality check, which is possible only by touching the item and witnessing that by the naked eyes. For instance, numerous older generation people always prefer to go in the shop such as buying a grocery that is extremely helpful get a products according to one's choice without replacing that unlike online shopping methods.
Beyond this, due to cutting-edge innovations like social digital platforms influence the young generation by their allure methods of advertisements, which can easily attract the young brains thus results in aggressive shopping. The effects of hyper-consumerism create a negative impact, that realization will never close the shops in town. Although in this fast-paced world online shopping provide convenience, it also comes with some drawbacks such as influential shopping.
In conclusion, due to the convenience of online shopping some people prefer that, nevertheless it cannot entirely close the shops because physical shop provides a quality check and allow people to witness that. While, influential digital consumption can offers flexibility, it may provide dissatisfaction because of aggressive consumerism.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding the physical experience of shopping and the limitations of digital consumption are relevant. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'influential shopping' is introduced but not clearly linked back to why this would prevent the closure of physical stores. The response would benefit from more specific, real-world examples beyond general statements about 'older generation people' or 'young brains' to better support the central argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with' and 'Beyond this', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly unnatural in context. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the connection between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother. Referencing is mostly clear, though some sentences, such as the final sentence of the second paragraph, are slightly convoluted, which briefly disrupts the flow of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their opinion clearly. There are attempts to use less common items like 'elucidate', 'prevalent', and 'hyper-consumerism'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and awkward collocations, such as 'allure methods of advertisements' and 'witnessing that by the naked eyes'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of the argument. Expanding the range of topic-specific collocations would help improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the trend of online shopping', 'the shopping'), prepositions, and verb forms ('can offers flexibility', 'provide convenience... it also comes'). Some sentences are structurally awkward, such as 'which is extremely helpful get a products'. These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding the writer's intent. More attention to subject-verb agreement and article usage is needed.
