Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, the popularity of online shopping has been increased. Some people argue that this tred will affact on all shops business while others oppose this argument. I strongly believe that it can cause loss to shop owners, and they will have to close shops. This essay will discuss my statement and valid reasons.

To begin, there are numerous reasons which can close all offline shopping platforms, one of the main reason that individuals have the multiple products on their mobile or laptop screen to choose. To elabrote this, there are more easier to search online than shops. That's why people prefer to shop online rather than markets. In this way, all city shops will have lack of customers for buying their products. For example, many markets have been closed in Indian cities due to online purchasing.

Moreover, persons are saving their crucial time to shop online. To extend it, they can order items such as clothes after their work hours without going in markets. For instance, public can enjoy their free time with their familes and have a fun rather than strugling to find products in markets.

In conclusion, online shopping has more advantagous than its drawbacks. So people are transforming to online shopping. This trend brings bad tiimes for shops.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position that online shopping will cause offline shops to close. However, the response falls significantly short of the word count requirement, containing only 211 words compared to the minimum of 250. This under-length impacts the overall development of ideas, leading to some superficial argumentation and limited examples, such as the brief mention of Indian markets. While the main stance is clear throughout, the lack of length prevents full extension and support of the arguments, which caps the score at Band 5.0 according to the descriptors for addressing tasks partially.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay has a basic structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, demonstrating some overall organisation. Paragraphing is attempted, though the division could be more refined. Cohesive devices are used, but they are sometimes repetitive or mechanical, such as 'To begin' and 'To extend it'. Referencing is generally clear, but the logical progression between ideas is occasionally disjointed due to the brevity and abrupt transitions. Overall, the coherence meets the criteria for Band 5.0, where organisation is present but progression lacks smoothness and cohesion is basic.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for communicating simple ideas, but the range is limited. The student attempts some less common items such as 'advantageous' and 'transformation', but these are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'tred' instead of 'trend', 'affact' instead of 'affect', 'elabrote' instead of 'elaborate', and 'tiimes'. These lexical errors and limitations cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a standard typical of Band 5.0, where vocabulary is minimally adequate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including preposition misuse ('affact on', 'going in markets'), article omissions ('the multiple products', 'lack of customers'), and word-form errors ('more easier'). While these errors do not completely obscure the meaning of the writing, they occur frequently and hinder fluency. This performance aligns closely with Band 5.0, characterized by frequent errors in complex structures that can cause occasional difficulty for the reader.
