Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The candidate addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position that online shopping will eventually replace physical stores in towns and cities. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The response lists many types of items available online, such as 'food items, clothing items, house hold things, madicine', rather than fully exploring the socio-economic or practical reasons why physical shops might or might not close entirely. The perspective is present and understandable, but the supporting arguments tend to over-generalise without deep elaboration. This falls within the parameters of Band 5, where the task is addressed, but ideas remain underdeveloped and somewhat limited.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks proper paragraphing, consisting instead of a series of very short, disjointed sentences and broken lines that fail to form cohesive paragraphs. Transitions between ideas are abrupt, and cohesive devices are either missing or misused, such as the repetitive use of 'too' at the end of multiple clauses (e.g., 'you can buy online too', 'home made thing you can by online too'). There is no clear overall progression of argument from introduction to conclusion; instead, the text reads as a random collection of observations. This level of organisation and cohesion aligns with Band 4 descriptors, as information and ideas are not arranged coherently.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and frequently repetitive, with words like 'online shopping', 'buy', and 'things' appearing constantly. There are numerous spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'thair' instead of 'their', 'madicine' instead of 'medicine', 'educatinal thing', and 'morden' instead of 'modern'. The range of vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate for conveying a basic message, but the frequent lexical errors and lack of sophisticated phrasing prevent the response from achieving a higher score. This matches the Band 5 descriptor where vocabulary is limited and noticeable errors occur.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is severely restricted, consisting mainly of simple sentences and repetitive structures like 'You can buy...' and 'There are...'. Complex sentence forms are rare and, when attempted, are generally faulty, such as in 'Today many people are thinking if. you get same thing at your door step why should worries to go outside and buy.' Punctuation and capitalization are frequently neglected, and there are pervasive errors in subject-verb agreement and word forms (e.g., 'no need go go anywhere', 'some of supermarket also provide'). These frequent errors cause considerable difficulty for the reader and reflect the Band 4 level.
