Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response only contains 88 words, which falls severely short of the mandatory 250-word minimum requirement. Because of this extreme under-length, the task is addressed only minimally. While the student does present a clear position in the introduction ('I agree that rise of degital shopping will be a reason of shops getting closed') and attempts to introduce a main body point about saving time and avoiding traffic, the ideas are drastically underdeveloped due to the premature ending of the essay. According to the descriptors for a length-penalised response where the task is only partially addressed, this warrants a band score of 4.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5
The text attempts a logical structure by starting with an introduction and moving into a first body paragraph signalled by the transition 'Firstly'. However, because the essay is cut off after only 88 words, overall progression and paragraphing are heavily compromised. The student uses basic cohesive devices like 'As' and 'Firstly', but the second body paragraph is incomplete and the essay lacks a concluding section. Referencing and paragraphing are insufficient for higher bands. Considering the limited text available, the coherence aligns best with a band score of 4.5.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The student demonstrates a basic vocabulary range suitable for discussing everyday topics, using terms such as 'online shopping', 'traffic', and 'market'. However, there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors throughout the short text, such as 'degital' instead of 'digital', 'nowdays' instead of 'nowadays', 'shoppoing' instead of 'shopping', and 'numberous of benifites' instead of 'numerous benefits'. These lexical errors and awkward collocations occasionally strain the reader's understanding, placing the lexical resource clearly within the band 4.5 category.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as the conditional-like clause 'As we do not have to stuck in traffic'. However, the text contains frequent grammatical errors, including missing auxiliary verbs ('have numberous'), incorrect verb forms ('to stuck'), and awkward phrasing ('they delivery items to home themself'). While the meaning is generally decipherable, errors are frequent enough to cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and prevent the text from achieving a higher grade. This performance corresponds to a band score of 4.5.
