Student answer (Band 6.5)
Around the world, the impact of modern online shopping method is swiftly changing the dynamic of shops in towns and cities as they are shutting down. I agree with the statement to larger extent as modern generation is priortizing ordering online which do help them in various ways.
Firstly, availability of the products which could be purchased online is on the rise. Looking decade back nobody thought that someone will be able to order food straight to the door steps by just the click of a button on a device. Industry revolutionized to the point that arguments of additional cost associated with this privilidge is no more an issue. Amazon website is example of this as I would only need an subscription to skip all the shipping cost which make item more affordable. Moreover, time consumed by navigating through the shops to find required items would be eliminated. Many people value their time as money which is why online shopping has become more normal.
Meanwhile, their would be certain economic impacts but not all are negative if adopted adequately. Retail shops shutting down surely means lose of job for number of people. But switching business operations to online platform presents busineeses with cost effective measure to operate. It eliminates monthly rental cost associated with shops whereas, a local shop would get global exposure to operate through online platforms. More business models adapting online platform will lead to erase physical presence which might affect those customer who had not yet adapted to the modern methods of shopping.
To conclude, online shopping already made lots of business to transition to the cost effective online platforms and it could certainly lead to all shops closing in towns and cities. Closing down does not directly means business run out of customer rather adapting to current environment, businesses can compete without physical presence.

| Criterion | Band |
|---|---|

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, agreeing to a larger extent that online shopping will lead to the closure of physical shops. Ideas are extended and supported, such as examining product availability, convenience, and economic impacts like reduced rental costs and job losses. However, there is a tendency to over-generalise slightly, and some supporting points could be further developed with deeper analysis. For instance, the discussion on economic impacts touches on global exposure and cost-effectiveness, but remains somewhat broad. Overall, the task is well addressed, satisfying the requirements for a Band 7.0 performance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay displays a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Information and ideas are presented in a coherent sequence, moving from an introduction of the trend to product availability, economic impacts, and a logical conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, with each paragraph having a clear central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', 'Meanwhile', and 'To conclude', although some referencing and transitional links are occasionally a bit mechanical or faulty, such as 'their would be certain economic impacts' and minor article usage issues affecting flow. Nevertheless, cohesion is generally well managed, aligning well with the Band 6.5 or Band 7.0 descriptors. A score of 6.5 is appropriate here.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate and sufficient range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'revolutionized', 'privilege', 'exposure', and 'transition'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'priortizing' instead of prioritizing, 'decade back' instead of a decade ago, 'privilidge' (misspelled), 'lose' instead of loss, 'busineeses', and 'adapting online platform'. While these lexical inaccuracies and spelling slips occur, they do not impede communication and the intended meaning is always clear. This places the lexical performance firmly in the Band 6.0 category.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at relative clauses and conditional structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'impact of modern online shopping method' (missing article and pluralisation), 'do help them', 'their would be', 'means lose of job', and missing prepositions or articles throughout the text. While these errors are noticeable and persist across the essay, the majority of sentences retain clarity and meaning is rarely impeded. The control of grammar corresponds to a Band 6.0 level.
