Student answer (Band 6.0)
This is a popular discussion among the consumers if growth of online shopping might someday lead to closure of all shops in towns and cities.
As a consumer myself I will discuss the valid points in this essay and also provide my stand to it. Being a Gen Z I prefer fast result while supplying the least input in the work. One of the example is shopping where I prefer to shop online as it saves my time and provide trending design options which could be deliverd to my door step without moving anywhere. I feel this one of the reason which invested in the growth of virtual shopping.
On the other hand the quality and experience which provided in-store visit could never be matched by virtual shopping. When an individual visits a store he/she is welcomed and provide with useful suggestion along with comparison which is a missing element in online shopping. However some people try to avoid any kind of interferance which could arise shopping in person. As sales representative are in search of opportunity to upsell and misguide the buyer where as in online shopping one won't encounter any of this.
To be more precise not only online shopping saves ones energy, time and travel expense but also provides a longer timeline to create return or replacement of your items with no question asked but again it will take 5 to 7 business day for the replacement to arrive. This is where in-store shopping wins though it has shorter time period for return or replacement of items yet you could get replacement at the same time you visit store for an exchange.
In conclusion, I partly agree with the statement as online shopping has a plenty of advantages still it could never be a reason for permanent closeure of all shops. It could be the case where small shops where the footfall is less or have limited option might get affected but not every store as their customer service is top-notch.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The candidate addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, concluding that online shopping will not completely replace physical stores. Ideas are extended and supported with relevant personal experience, such as referencing generational preferences ('Being a Gen Z') and contrasting return policies. While some arguments, such as the discussion of sales pressure, are a bit anecdotal, the overall response fulfills the requirements of the prompt well. The position is well-developed in the final paragraph, showing a balanced view. This performance aligns comfortably with the Band 7 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct focus, moving from an introduction to personal preferences, counter-arguments regarding in-store service, return policy comparisons, and a balanced conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the other hand', 'To be more precise', and 'In conclusion', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to structure the flow of ideas. However, referencing is occasionally imprecise, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Overall, the structural progression remains clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses a sufficient range of vocabulary to allow some flexibility and precision, incorporating terms like 'footfall', 'upsell', and 'virtual shopping'. However, there are noticeable word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'supplying the least input' instead of 'putting in minimal effort', 'deliverd' (spelling error), and 'permanent closeure'. While the vocabulary is adequate for the task and permits the student to communicate their ideas clearly, these frequent lexical inaccuracies and spelling slips restrict the score to Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing articles ('is one of the reason', 'take 5 to 7 business day'), punctuation issues (lack of commas after introductory phrases), and agreement errors ('As sales representative are... where as'). While these errors do not seriously impede communication, they occur consistently enough to prevent the response from achieving a Band 7. Control over grammar is moderate.
