Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, the increasing number of online shopping platforms have raised a concern. Some people believe that online shopping will entirely replace the offline shopping, this will result in shutting down of local shops in the town. However, I partially agree with the notion, although online shopping provides convinience it will not replace the in person experience of offline shopping.
On the one hand, there are several advantages the online shopping offers such as it saves up a lot of time and provide comfort. Custormers can save a majority of their commute time and money. They can scroll through their phone in their comfort and can place order. Moreover, many online platforms offer return policy which allows them to try the garment and if they don't like they can replace or return the item. In addition, customers can check the same product on different platform to get best offers and discounts.
On the other hand, many individuals take offline shopping as a chance to spend quality time with friends and family. For instance, families go out on weekend to do their shopping and spend entire day in the mall indulging in different activities. Furthermore, many people find it easy and convenient to select the clothes in person to understand the color and texture of the garment, which is difficult to make out through phonescreen. Consequently, in time of emergency people would choose to purchase things from offline store rather than waiting for days to get it delieverd.
In conclusion, although online stores offer conveneince of shooping from and save alot of travel time. The shopping experience from offline store which provide an opportunity to connect with friends and family remain as a priority for many individuals.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The candidate adequately addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position regarding whether online shopping will completely replace physical stores. A well-rounded view is established in the introduction ('I partially agree with the notion'), and both sides are discussed: the convenience and benefits of online shopping, contrasted against the social and sensory value of offline shopping. The main ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as families going to the mall on weekends and the need to inspect clothing textures in person. Although some arguments could be slightly more deeply developed to reach the highest bands, the response fully satisfies the task requirements with clear, relevant reasoning throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response features a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. The essay is divided into distinct, appropriate paragraphs with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs examining contrasting viewpoints, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader smoothly through the arguments, though referencing and linking occasionally border on mechanical. Paragraphing is handled well, ensuring that distinct themes remain separated and easy to follow. Overall, the structural framework of the essay successfully supports the flow of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary for the task, allowing for some flexibility and precision (e.g., 'indulging in different activities', 'texture of the garment'). Less common lexical items are attempted, though there are several noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'convinience' instead of convenience, 'Custormers' instead of customers, 'different platform' instead of platforms, and 'delieverd' instead of delivered. Despite these errors, communication is never impeded, and the vocabulary remains adequate to convey the intended meanings clearly and effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses, such as 'which is difficult to make out through phonescreen' and 'although online shopping provides convinience it will not replace...'. However, there are several grammatical errors and punctuation lapses, including subject-verb agreement issues ('the increasing number of online shopping platforms have') and missing commas in complex structures. While these errors occur fairly frequently, they do not impede communication, and the overall meaning remains clear to the reader.
