IELTS Writing Task 2 question
The growth of online shopping will one day lead to all shops in towns and cities closing.
Do you agree or disagree?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is no doubt that online shopping is increasing day by day. It leads to a concern that this trend will replace the stores available in cities or towns. I disagree with this point and I will share about this trend in upcoming paragraphs.
Buying things online is very popular due to several reasons including saving time and accessibility. People find it very easy to sit at home, order online and get things delivered. Moreover, the crowd at the stores makes it hard for someone to stay and shop peacefully. Online platforms have made peoples' life easy.
However, no matter, how famous online shopping is. Individuals still need to go the shops in order to find accurate thing for themselves. For example, it is very hard to find the correct size of the clothes on devices. If a person orders a wrong size of the garments online, it will lead to more problems. Sometimes, these things are neither refundable nor returnable. Also, it causes more time waste. It is always believed that the in- person shopping is best to get the right material.
Moreover, the quality of the items can only be checked by actually going to the shops. The kind, durability cannot be guessed at home. For instance, it is essential to go to the store to but groceries. A person cannot check the expiry date of grocery products, the ripeness of the fruits and vegetables online. Online ordered items will eventually need to return if they are not in good condition.
In conclusion, although shopping online is very easy and quick, but people still need the stores in their locality. The satisfiction of buying stuff in-person cannot be replaced by digital shopping. People need to go to stores to buy right and quality product.

Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different arguments, such as clothing size issues versus grocery freshness. Cohesive devices are generally deployed, though some transitions are basic or mechanically applied, such as starting multiple sentences with 'Moreover' and 'Also'. Referencing is mostly clear, though overall progression occasionally falters due to repetitive argumentation. This level of cohesion and logical structuring fits neatly into the Band 6.0 category.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range sufficient to communicate ideas on the topic of online shopping. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'accessibility', 'durability', and 'satisfiction' (spelled 'satisfiction').
