Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the contemporary, online shopping's popularity is increasing day by day. Several people are buying from the online platforms rather being going in the markets. This has created a bad impact on the shopkeepers of the towns and cities. I agree that growth of online purchasing will lead to closure of the shops but the quality and bargaining the prices are something that are available offline only.

The trend of e-commerce has increased as it gave a lot benefits. Everyone is gettin g busy in their lives due to which they have no time to visit physical stores. For instance, a lady is who is a teacher has come home and has to cook but have no time to go to store so she ordered the ingridients at house. Therefore, people considered digitally buying an easy and accesible way.

On the contrary, in-person offers significant value as we can get to know the quality of product by touching which is not possible on internet. Moreover, bargaing system can also be done and it can help to get things at lowe cost. For example, a survey was conducted in India and it was found that large number of defect items were sold on digital platforms and due to non-refundable policy, a huge amount of money has been losyt by many people in the country.

In the conclusion, although increase the e-shopping gave an accessible and easy way to do things, yet offline buying give more value as we can check the standards of the material and also we can save delivery fees which is charged in other method of purchasing.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing the growth of online shopping and giving a balanced view on whether it will cause all physical shops to close. Although the introduction contains a slightly contradictory statement about agreeing with the closure while also stating that offline features remain exclusive, the body paragraphs successfully extend and support relevant ideas. For instance, the student explores why e-commerce is popular due to convenience and busy lifestyles, and contrasts this with the tactile benefits and perceived reliability of physical stores. The position is generally clear throughout, though the development of ideas could be more cohesive and thoroughly reasoned. Therefore, this performance meets the criteria for Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the argument into an introduction, supporting body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different facets of the topic. However, cohesion is at times faulty and mechanical. For example, transition phrases like 'On the contrary' and 'In the conclusion' are used, but referencing within sentences occasionally breaks down, such as 'a lady is who is a teacher has come home and has to cook but have no time'. Additionally, some cohesive devices feel repetitive or awkward. These issues place the response solidly within the Band 5.5 to 6.0 range, achieving a Band 6.0 for overall logical progression despite mechanical flaws.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'contemporary', 'e-commerce', 'accessible', and 'non-refundable policy'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors, awkward word choices, and spelling mistakes throughout the text. Examples include 'ingridients', 'accesible', 'bargaing', 'losing' (spelled as 'losyt'), and phrasing like 'rather being going in the markets' or 'digitally buying'. While these vocabulary errors and inaccuracies are frequent, they do not severely impede communication as the reader can still grasp the intended meaning. This performance is characteristic of Band 5.5, rounding up to a Band 6.0 due to the adequate range attempted.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional-like ideas. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation slips that detract from the accuracy of the text. Examples of errors include subject-verb agreement issues ('everyone is gettin g busy', 'materials... can save'), incorrect verb tenses or forms ('has come home and has to cook but have no time'), and awkward phrasing ('a lady is who is a teacher'). Despite these frequent errors, the meaning is rarely completely obscured, and communication is maintained. This profile corresponds well to the Band 5.5 descriptor, as the range of structures is limited and complex attempts are often faulty.
