IELTS Writing Task 2 question

The growth of online shopping will one day lead to all shops in towns and cities closing.

Do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

 

Student answer (Band 5.5)

Due to the advancement of technology, it is convenient to buy and sell any kind of product through the internet. Some people belive that the continously growing of online shopping will lead to close all the shops which is located in cities while others believbe that there will be not any imapct on the shops which is situated in towns. I strictly disagree with this given statement beacose of some concerns which i will be discussing in the upcoming paragrphs.

To commence with, the first and foremost reason is that in the rural areas where is no network connection. In that areas it is difficult to purchase any product because there is not any network connection. They are underdeveloped areas so they do not any network cables and it makes difficult to people to purchase any kind of products and services. Moreover, some old age people and senior citizens are not much familiar with the technology. They do not know how to use the technology. For instance, in past times people are used to with the radios and only television but nowadays there are different types of smartphones avaliable and senior people have not much knowledge about the smartphones. So, they cannot place anoy order online.

Furthermore, in this technologial era there are many types of frauds happen with the customers. While making online payments after purchase anything online people using their debit or credit cards and we have to put one time password to finalize the payment and sometimes the website from which we purchased online can use their one time password and it can be loss of money to customers. For instance, in 2024 there was a case in India wich leads money loss issues while making online payment.

In a nutshell, I personally beliveve that there will be not any imapct on the toen and city shops because of the no network connection in reural areas, senior people are not aware about the technology and because of fraud causes while making online payment

However, there are numerous spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'belive' instead of 'believe', 'continously' instead of 'continuous', 'beacose' instead of 'because', 'avaliable' instead of 'available', and 'reural' instead of 'rural'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'technological era', but inaccuracies in spelling and collocation restrict the score. The errors do not severely impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent the response from reaching Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
