Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The student attempts to address the prompt regarding whether online shopping will lead to all physical shops closing. However, the response is incomplete, ending abruptly in the second body paragraph, and importantly, it fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, coming in at only 182 words. This severe under-length restriction prevents full development of ideas and a well-rounded conclusion, which places the response firmly in the lower band categories for Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay displays some basic organisational structure with an introductory paragraph and initial body paragraphs. However, cohesion is frequently faulty and mechanical. Phrases like 'In this piece of essay, I will explicate both viewpoints' and transition words are used awkwardly. Furthermore, because the essay is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence, logical progression is disrupted, and paragraphing is underdeveloped.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The lexical resource is limited and heavily impacted by spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text. Examples include 'disscusion', 'acknowledge' instead of acknowledged, 'becase', 'Flipcart', 'precising', 'convient', 'palce', and 'bondation'. While the student attempts some topic-specific vocabulary related to online shopping like 'retail stores' and 'online markets', the high frequency of basic lexical and spelling errors impedes smooth reading and caps the score at this level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response features a very limited range of grammatical structures with frequent, heavy errors. Examples of awkward phrasing and grammatical inaccuracies include 'shopping habits through online may cause shut down local shops' and 'It is having seen that one can brought any of products'. Punctuation and verb tense errors are pervasive, such as 'there is'nt any time bondation'. While some simple sentences are understandable, the high density of structural errors pulls the score down.
