Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count of 250 words, stopping abruptly at only 135 words, which severely impacts task completion. While the student introduces a clear position against the statement, the ideas are underdeveloped due to the premature ending. The paragraph starts outlining reasons related to product quality and mismatched expectations, such as online dresses not matching descriptions, but cuts off mid-sentence before these points can be fully supported or extended. Consequently, the response addresses the prompt only partially, fulfilling the criteria for a Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The text demonstrates some organizational structure with an introduction stating the writer's position, but the overall progression is cut short by the inadequate length. Paragraphing is attempted, but the text breaks off prematurely after only a few sentences. Cohesive devices are used minimally and sometimes awkwardly, such as in the phrase 'despite of increasing trend'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'authentic then you can aspect that'. While there is some logical sequencing at the start, the lack of a body paragraph completion and conclusion limits the coherence to a Band 5.0 level.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, reflecting a limited range that is minimally adequate for the task. There are several noticeable word choice and spelling errors, such as 'shoping' instead of shopping, 'bought' instead of buy, and repeated misuse of 'aspect' instead of expect. Words are often strained or inappropriate for the context, such as 'escalation of online shoping trend'. These errors require some effort from the reader to interpret, positioning the lexical resource at a Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but these attempts are frequently faulty. Examples include grammatical errors like 'it is argue that' instead of 'it is argued that' and 'despite of increasing trend'. There are frequent errors in verb forms, prepositions, and sentence construction that cause difficulty for the reader, such as 'If the website of purchasing is authentic then you can aspect that'. The high density of errors relative to the short text places grammatical control at a Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0.
