Student answer (Band 6.0)
It has been observed that in this contemporary epoch, consumers are shifting towards online shopping, which negatively affect small local retail shop owners. Many people believe that the usage of moden shopping will grow eventually and would lead to the closure of local shops. I do not agree with the above statement, as local shops are crucial for ouir society, and it represents our culture and religion.
To begin with, online shopping is convenient and accessible but also consists of various drawbacks such as; poor fabric quality and wrong sizes as a result consumer can not completely rely on them. To exemplify, a consumer is running behind for an event and buy clothes from online website their is a possibility that after getting delivered it might not look the same way you once liked upon. To add on, some online platforms do not accept exchange and often denies for refund which creates a barrier for consumers and limit their purchasing freedom. Therefore, local retail shops are trusted and can never get closed.
Furthermore, local retail shops often sell products which represents their country's culture and historic backgrounds for intsance, clothes, flags and other small symbolic presents. This shops are essential for the country as they attract people and boost the touirism industry. Moreover, online shopping is not safe anymore as consumers provide their banking information and end up getting charged for products they never bought. Consequently, local shops are trusted because you can check and wear the product before buying and also offers exchange and refund options.
To conclude, online shopping has significant drawbacks and can never overide retail units because they offer premium service such as refund and exchange at a lower budget. Having a conversation with your custoers build strong trust and buyers often visit the same store again.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position on whether online shopping will cause all physical shops to close. You establish an explicit stance in the introduction by disagreeing with the prompt, noting that local shops are crucial for society and culture. The main body paragraphs provide relevant supporting ideas, such as the drawbacks of online shopping including poor fabric quality, sizing issues, lack of refund options, and security concerns. However, some arguments tend to over-generalise, such as claiming that 'online shopping is not safe anymore,' and certain points like cultural representation are slightly under-developed and would benefit from further elaboration to reach higher levels of task response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear, logical structure that guides the reader through your arguments. You make use of standard cohesive devices and transition signals to connect your ideas, such as 'To begin with,' 'Furthermore,' and 'To conclude.' Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, moving from the convenience and drawbacks of e-commerce to cultural significance and customer service. Nonetheless, cohesion is occasionally mechanical, and referencing is not always completely clear, such as the pronoun shift in 'after getting delivered it might not look the same way you once liked upon,' which creates minor disruptions in the logical flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas effectively regarding consumer habits and retail businesses. You attempt some less common lexical items, such as 'contemporary epoch,' 'purchasing freedom,' and 'touirism industry' (along with minor spelling slips like 'moden', 'ouir', 'intsance', 'overide', and 'custoers'). However, word choice and collocations are occasionally unnatural or inaccurate, such as 'running behind for an event' or 'denies for refund.' To achieve a higher standard, you need to expand your repertoire of less common vocabulary and demonstrate greater precision in word formation and spelling control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms throughout the essay, successfully utilizing structures like conditional clauses and relative clauses to express your arguments. There are, however, several noticeable errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing articles, subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'This shops are essential'), and awkward phrasing such as 'consumer can not completely rely on them' and 'often denies for refund.' While these errors occur regularly, they rarely impede overall communication. Incorporating a wider variety of error-free complex structures and refining your punctuation control will help elevate your grammatical performance.
