Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this digital world, the trend of online shopping has been increasing tremendously over the past few years. Some people believe that this growing trend will one day lead to all physical shops in rural areas and cities closing. I completely disagee with this phenomenon and in this essay I will discuss the importance of offline shops to support my notion.
To begin with, offline shops are significant mainly for the reason that these are a source of daily income for the shopkeepers. In many rural regions, people are still relied on income from their businesses of shops such as groceries, apparel, kitchen appliances, toys, stationery etcetra. Because they do not have entire knowledge of using and operating online platforms to run and expand their businesses. Moreover, the local community also rely heavily on shops because of physical existance and they can easily make purchasing decisions by comparing quality of products by touching and they can make decision on the spot if they have to attend major ocassions, which is not possible while placing order online, simply, for the reason they have to wait for the order to be delivered which take almost 10-15 days or sometimes more.
Additionally, the majority of urban people mainly yougsters prefer to go outside for shopping with their friends and immediate family members so that they can enjoy and explore variety of products by visiting one shop to another. Also, this outing becomes a reason for get-together and perform some exciting activities after having hectic schedules of their workplaces.
Taking everything into consideration, I firmly believe that despite increasing popularity of online shopping platforms, physical existance of shops and stores in rural and urban regions will definetly not lead to closing these places permanently.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by clearly presenting a position of complete disagreement regarding the total closure of physical shops. The main ideas are relevant and generally easy to follow, but some aspects are unevenly developed. For instance, the point regarding shopkeepers' livelihoods in rural areas is introduced but not fully extended with deeper economic analysis. Meanwhile, the idea about youngsters using shopping as a social outing is a strong, relevant contribution. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to present fully developed, well-supported ideas across all body paragraphs without relying on brief or overly generalised explanations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance established in the introduction and reinforced in the conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised appropriately to separate distinct arguments, such as the economic perspective and the social aspect of shopping. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or slightly faulty, noticeable in phrases like 'To begin with' and 'Additionally', and occasional referencing issues, such as vague pronoun use ('these are a source', 'rely heavily on shops because of physical existance'). Progression is generally evident, but smoother transitions and more flexible use of cohesive devices would elevate the organisational quality of the writing.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating the writer's ideas. There are several attempts to use less common items, such as 'tremendously', 'livelihoods' (implied), and 'immediate family members', showing an effort to expand the lexical range. However, there are noticeable word-choice and spelling errors that prevent a higher score, including the spelling of 'disagee' instead of 'disagree', 'existance' instead of 'existence', 'ocassions' instead of 'occasions', 'yougsters' instead of 'youngsters', and awkward phrasing like 'entire knowledge' and 'perform some exciting activities'. These errors do not impede communication, but they highlight the need for greater precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and subordinate structures like 'while placing order online'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as prepositional and structural awkwardness ('are still relied on income', 'because they do not have entire knowledge of using', 'which take almost 10-15 days'), fragment sentences or run-on tendencies ('simply, for the reason they have to wait'), and missing articles. Despite these issues, the errors rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the intended arguments without significant difficulty.
