Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the last era, the popularity to shop online has become an influential trend leaving less consideration towards physical shopping. This new fashion has sparked controversy where a high percentage of people love this whilst few reject the notion. Its substantial growth will definitely lead to terminate shops in the future. I believe such situation will not be seen as both justify their own specific roles.
Analysing the statement, it is for sure that people are more involved in online shopping. Everyone prefers to purchase things whether its a piece of cloth or any furniture from online platforms. The stem reason is getting a thing without energy and time expenditure. Those people who are always busy in their hectic schedules have no time to visit shops or markets on weekly basis. Moreover, the websites have good discounts and offers nowadays at almost every small occasion. This benefits people to avail every offer that is usually not available at shops. To cite an example, ordering a dress comes with a free goodie and sometimes the brand gives free delivery services to their regular customers.
On the other hand, we cannot fully support the dilemma of closing shops in towns and cities. Those areas have their own salient features as they have products that are representing cultural and traditional trends of the area. They deserve a good customer percentage that builds their financial profits. There are many products that cannot be bought online, for instance, the electronic gadgets. While buying it online we cannot assure its working or not. For such purchases, it is compulsory to visit shops physically.
In conclusion, I believe the approach to buy majority things online will proceed but the local shops in urban and rural areas will not close. Both the commodities hold their own specific importance. Where people prefer online platforms, there are still individuals who consider shopping from towns and cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, arguing that local shops will not completely close down despite the growth of e-commerce. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others, which is typical of this level. For instance, the reasons why people prefer online shopping, such as convenience, time-saving, and discounts, are well-supported with examples like free goodies and delivery services. In contrast, the counter-arguments regarding local shops and traditional products are somewhat less extended and rely on broader generalisations, such as the claim that electronic gadgets cannot be bought online. Overall, the main message is clear and relevant to the prompt, though deeper exploration of the economic or social impacts on physical retail would help elevate the task response to the next level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Information and ideas are logically sequenced, moving from the growth of online shopping to the counter-argument regarding the survival of physical stores. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points. However, cohesion can sometimes feel a bit mechanical or faulty. For example, transitional phrases and referencing are occasionally awkward, such as starting the final paragraph with 'In conclusion, I believe the approach to buy majority things online will proceed' where referencing and logical links between sentences lack smooth integration. To achieve a higher level, the writer needs to ensure that cohesive devices are used more flexibly and subtly, guiding the reader effortlessly through more complex logical connections between paragraphs.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating a sufficient range to discuss the topic of e-commerce versus physical retail. The writer attempts less common vocabulary with varying degrees of success, using phrases like 'influential trend', 'hectic schedules', and 'salient features'. However, there are noticeable word choice, collocation, and word form errors that occasionally slightly affect precision, such as writing 'lead to terminate shops' instead of 'lead to the termination of shops' or 'buying majority things' instead of 'buying the majority of things'. Additionally, phrasing like 'both the commodities' is imprecise since physical shops and online platforms are not commodities. To reach a higher standard, the writer should focus on precise word choices, natural collocations, and accurate word forms when attempting more sophisticated or less common vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating various subordinate clauses and compound structures. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation present throughout the text, but they rarely impede communication. Examples include preposition and article issues, such as 'on weekly basis' instead of 'on a weekly basis', 'whether its a piece of cloth' with a missing apostrophe, and 'While buying it online we cannot assure its working or not' where pronoun agreement and clause structure are slightly flawed. Furthermore, sentence structures occasionally feel constrained by awkward phrasing, such as 'This new fashion has sparked controversy where a high percentage of people love this whilst few reject the notion.' To move higher, the writer needs to demonstrate better control over complex sentence patterns, article usage, and prepositions while increasing the proportion of error-free sentences.
