Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, online shopping has become more popular in many parts of the world. The increasing popularity of online shopping will close to all shpos in towns and cities. I agree this view with some extent because online shopping provides convenience and a wider range of products. However, physical shopping also has several benefits.

On the one hand, One major advantage of online shopping is convenience . many people can buy products online at anytime and from anywhere. It is beneficial for people who are living in a remort area and working profession. For example, a working person can order grocceries and others goods after returning home from work instead of spending hours visiting different shops. In addition, It aslo offers greater variety of products and competitive price because customer can compare different websites. As a result number of people choose to buy online products instead of visiting diierent local shops.

On the other hand, There are several advantages of tradition shopping. Firstly, many people still prefer visitng local shops because they can compare different products, quality and variety before buying them. Secondaly, it also give an opportunity to examine goods before making decision. Finally, people who are not familiar with technology find it difficulty using mobile apps, so they would like to prefer physical shopping.

In conslusion, Both types of shopping have their own benefits. I partially agree that because digital shopping has more benefits because it offers great convenience and greater variety and choice and discounts. Nevertheless, physical shopping provides people with opportunity examine goods before shopping. It aslo advantageous for individuals who are not aware about digital plateform. Therefore, online shopping will not lead to close all shops in towns and cities.

Overall6.0

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, acknowledging both sides before concluding that physical shops will not entirely disappear. You provide relevant ideas, such as convenience and variety for online shopping alongside the ability to examine goods physically. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. While the advantages of online shopping are well supported with examples like grocery delivery for working professionals, your points on traditional shopping tend to rely on more generalised statements rather than extended examples. To reach the next level, you would need to fully develop all aspects of your argument with equal depth and richer supporting evidence across both body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

Your essay has a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical structure, with a clear introduction, separate body paragraphs for opposing views, and a concluding summary. You use standard cohesive devices to guide the reader, such as 'On the one hand', 'For example', and 'In addition'. However, cohesion is sometimes a bit mechanical or repetitive, and referencing is not always completely clear. For instance, transitional phrases feel formulaic rather than smoothly integrated into the flow of sentences. To achieve a higher band, you should use a wider variety of cohesive devices more flexibly and ensure that paragraph transitions feel more natural and sophisticated.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'convenience', 'competitive price', and 'traditional shopping'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout your text, including typos like 'shpos', 'remort', 'grocceries', and 'diierent', as well as awkward phrasing like 'I agree this view with some extent' and 'tradition shopping'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict your score. To improve your lexical score, you need to expand your control of less common vocabulary, ensure accurate word formation and collocations, and thoroughly proofread your writing to eliminate basic spelling slips.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

Your response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to vary your structures with clauses introduced by 'who' and 'because'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing articles ('working profession', 'making decision', 'opportunity examine'), incorrect prepositions ('familiar with technology find it difficulty using'), and punctuation issues like spacing before commas and full stops. Fortunately, these errors rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear. To move up to the next band, you should aim for a higher proportion of error-free complex sentences and exercise tighter control over grammatical patterns, articles, and punctuation.
