Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You state a clear position in the opening: “I strongly disagree,” and begin a relevant reason by arguing that local shops offer a hands-on experience and let customers try products. However, the response stops before this idea is explained or supported, and it does not develop further reasons or examples addressing whether online shopping will cause all town and city shops to close. The final phrase, “The local shopkeepers an,” is incomplete, so the argument is left unfinished. The required minimum length is not met, which substantially limits how fully you can answer the task. To improve, complete the essay with developed reasons, a relevant example, and a conclusion that restates your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic overall direction: it introduces disagreement and then starts to explain an advantage of local shops. This gives the reader a simple opening-to-reason progression. However, the argument ends abruptly at “The local shopkeepers an,” and there is no completed paragraph structure, conclusion, or linking of multiple ideas. The comma after “because” also interrupts the sentence rather than helping connect its parts. Develop a clear sequence of paragraphs—for example, an introduction, separate paragraphs for reasons and examples, and a conclusion—and use straightforward links such as “Furthermore” or “For example” where they clarify the relationship between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “advancement in technology,” “online shopping,” “hands-on experience,” and “product.” These choices make your main subject and one supporting point understandable. However, the range is very limited because the response is short, and several spelling or word-form errors reduce accuracy: “espect,” “stronglly,” “businessess,” and “superiour.” The phrase “more superior” is also not a natural comparative form. Build a wider set of accurate expressions for discussing retail, such as “physical stores,” “in-person shopping,” and “convenience,” and check spelling and collocations carefully. More developed ideas would also give you opportunities to show greater vocabulary range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both a longer opening sentence and a reason sentence, and the basic meaning is generally recoverable. However, control is weakened by punctuation and sentence-boundary problems. In “I strongly disagree that, The local businesses and shops may become extinct,” the comma is misplaced, the capital letter after it is unnecessary, and the clause after “disagree that” does not express the intended position clearly. “The local shopkeepers an” is an incomplete sentence, while “because, they provide” incorrectly separates the conjunction from its clause. There is little evidence of a range of accurately controlled structures. Practise writing complete sentences with clear clause relationships, and proofread punctuation, articles, and sentence endings.
