Student answer (Band 5.5)

Yes, I definitely agree with it. The craze of online shopping is increasing day by day. People enjoy the online shopping more than going to the outlet buying the item. It is because online shopping give us the comfort of home while in phiscal shopping, we have to go out and buy the item. It seems very difficult. Now, we come to the point of closing shops that will be true in near future.

The example of this is that some well known luxury brands had been closed in my hometown because people do not go and buy from outlet but from online shopping. The shops had been empty for whole day and shopkeepers were just passing time there. Aftersomedays, we saw that these brands were closed in my hometown.

Now, some peolpe will dis-agree with me but I think that's true. If we talk about the point of view of those who completely dis-agree, to some extent they are correct too. They say that shops will not close because no matter what happens some people still prefer to go to the outlet rather than online shopping. In some emergency cases, people need dresses or heels or any other items, they will definitely go to outlet because they are more efficient than online shopping.

The example they give is that a person is going to marriage and his outfit is burnt or torned out or any other problem. He will definitely send someine to nearest outlet for the dress rather than doing online shopping.

I think these are correct but people love to shop in comfort of their home. The thing theybtalk about is the emergency case not a normal life shopping. Moreover, now we can order online in emergency it can reach us in few minutes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening (“I definitely agree”) and remains broadly consistent. You give relevant reasons, including the convenience of shopping at home, and illustrate the issue with closed luxury-brand shops in your hometown. You also acknowledge the opposing view that people may need to buy items urgently in person, then explain why you consider this less important. This addresses both the opinion question and the need for supporting examples. However, some ideas are less fully developed: the hometown example is anecdotal and does not explain whether online shopping was the main reason those shops closed, while the claim that online orders can arrive “in few minutes” needs qualification or support. Explain the likely extent of closures and why some physical shops may remain.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: it introduces your view, presents an example, considers a counterargument, and returns to your position. This helps the reader follow the main line of thought. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes loose, and several transitions feel mechanical, such as “Now, we come to the point” and “Now, some people will dis-agree with me.” The opposing view and its example could be grouped and linked more clearly, while the final paragraph should directly synthesise the two sides rather than repeat the preference for home shopping. Use clearer topic sentences and more precise referencing so that each paragraph develops one main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the central ideas, including “luxury brands,” “emergency cases,” and “prefer,” and the reader can generally understand your meaning. However, the range is limited and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, particularly repeated uses of “outlet,” “item,” and “online shopping.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “phiscal,” “peolpe,” “torned out,” and “someine,” which can distract the reader. Some collocations are unnatural, for example “passing time there” and “normal life shopping.” Build a wider set of accurate terms for retail and convenience, and check spelling and natural word combinations during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional example (“If we talk about the point of view…”) and a contrast between online and physical shopping. The main message remains understandable, but grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make sentences awkward. For example, “online shopping give us” has subject–verb disagreement, while “some well known luxury brands had been closed” uses an unsuitable passive construction and tense. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention: “in few minutes” lacks an article, and “The thing they talk about is the emergency case not a normal life shopping” needs clearer punctuation and structure. Practise accurate agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction, then proofread each sentence.
