Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, people preffer to do online shopping rather than going to local shops and malls. However, this trend can leads to potentailly shut down of all the stores in cities and towns. I completely agree with this because local shops are already facing big loss because of ecommerce and if this trend persists then it would be really hard to them to survive.
There several reasons behind this trend, Firstly, online shopping is inexpensive and it offers great value for price. For example, platforms like Amazon often run big deals for their customers offering them luxury brands for cheap price. Similarly, they also provide several payment options to the shoppers which provides seamless shopping experience to the customers. Secondly, online shopping is more flexible as compared to local shops. For instance, customers are allowed to return any product if they don't like it and they will get complete refund for that item.
Lastly, online shopping is more convenient than supermarkets as people can order their monthly grocery as well as clothes while seating on their sofa. Moreover, cutomers can see reviews and other people's opinion on specific item before buying which allows them to make wise decision for ordering. Because customers often get confused to make decisions for shopping and this allows them to decide fast about their choice.
To conclude, online shopping came up with several benefits and reliabilities which make it inevitable for people to shopping.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you completely agree that online shopping threatens town and city shops, and you give relevant reasons, including lower prices, flexible returns and convenience. The Amazon example helps illustrate the price point. However, the response only partly develops the central claim that *all* shops will eventually close. It explains why online shopping appeals to customers, but does not consider whether some shops could survive by offering services or experiences that online retailers cannot. The final sentence also does not clearly restate the prediction or summarise the argument. The response is 10 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop and support your ideas. Extend the discussion with a specific example and a clearer explanation of how the trend could lead to closures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a body paragraph presenting reasons, a further paragraph on convenience, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Lastly,” and “To conclude” make the progression easy to follow. This coherent overall arrangement is a strength. However, the body paragraphs are not always clearly focused: the second paragraph combines price, payment options and returns, while the next repeats the convenience point and adds customer reviews. Some links are mechanical, and “Because customers often get confused…” does not connect smoothly to the preceding sentence. To strengthen progression, group each main reason in a focused paragraph and explain how it supports the claim about shops closing. Use clearer referencing and vary transitions rather than relying mainly on numbered signposts.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “online shopping,” “local shops,” “payment options,” “refund,” and “reviews.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions such as “seamless shopping experience” and “inevitable.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which makes parts of the response less natural. Examples include “big loss,” “great value for price,” “luxury brands for cheap price,” and “came up with several benefits and reliabilities.” Spelling errors such as “preffer,” “potentailly,” and “cutomers” are also noticeable. Build a more precise range for discussing business effects and consumer behaviour, and check spelling and common word partnerships during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, using structures such as “because local shops are already facing…” and “if this trend persists then…”. These attempts help express reasons and consequences, and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, errors occur across sentence forms and sometimes make the reader pause. For example, “There several reasons” is missing a verb, “this trend can leads” has an incorrect verb form, and “it would be really hard to them to survive” has an incorrect grammatical pattern. There are also issues with articles and sentence construction in “for cheap price” and “allows them to make wise decision.” Review subject–verb agreement, infinitive patterns, and article use, then proofread each sentence for a complete and correctly formed clause.
