Student answer (Band 6.0)

A growing popularity of online shopping platforms is responsible for closing of all shops in towns and cities. E-shopping brings tremendous benefits for the community members, therefore, it is one of the dominent reason for closing of brick-shops in the cities. However, in-person shopping is more reliable and trust-worthy. Therefore, I partially agree with the given statement.

On the one hand, a number of working employees are busy with their professional works, hence, they prefer to purchase products from online shopping websites like Amazone, Flipcart and Prime insted of spending their valuable time behind physical shopping. As a result, online shopping reduces their travelling costs and they can buy their desire items 24 hours at any days on a very resonable prices as compred to shops. Therefore, majority of humankind shift towards the latest shopping tread insted of traditional shopping methods. Also, trending shopping methods are reliable, time-saving, affordable and less complex over physical shopping.

On the other hand, closing of small shops in the towns and cities leads to unemployment in the business market and push the shoppers to wind-up their small shops. As a result, a lot of the local people loss their jobs, which builds pressure on them about finding a new job as well as financial burden. Apart from that, visiting shops with family or friends and check the products in-person is more convenient, because person can measure the size of their desire garments if they go to the shops. Additionally, lot of citizens visit malls in order to spend quality time with friends, have some fun and memorable moments with them. Hence, ofline shopping will still hold special importnace in the future in the society.

In conclusion, availability, convenience and reliability of online shopping makes it more famous among the community and it will leads to closing of small shops in the towns. However, a proportion of citizens display their favour towards the in-person shopping, they like travelling for shopping and higher ofline shopping ratio will boost the revenue in the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you partially agree, arguing that online shopping is convenient while in-person shopping will continue to matter. You address both sides and give relevant reasons, including time savings for busy workers, possible job losses, and the social value of visiting malls. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, you say online shopping will lead to shops closing, but do not show how this trend would extend to all shops or explain why some businesses might survive by adapting. The point about checking garment sizes in person is relevant, but could be developed with a specific example. To strengthen the response, explain the limits of online shopping and connect each example more directly to your qualified position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs signposted by “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. The main ideas generally progress logically, and linking phrases such as “As a result” and “Additionally” help show relationships between points. This gives the essay a coherent flow. At times, however, the links feel mechanical or the references are unclear. For instance, “Therefore” appears repeatedly, and “trending shopping methods” does not clearly identify which methods you mean. The conclusion also introduces “higher offline shopping ratio” without establishing that idea earlier. Use a wider range of natural transitions, and make sure each concluding point follows directly from the discussion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “travelling costs,” “financial burden,” “revenue,” and “in-person shopping,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at less common expressions, but inaccurate word choice, collocation, word forms, and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the writing less natural. Examples include “domin ent reason” (intended as “dominant reason”), “desire items” (“desired items”), “shopping tread” (“shopping trend”), and “loss their jobs” (“lose their jobs”). “Amazone,” “Flipcart,” and “ofline” also contain spelling errors. Aim for accurate, natural combinations such as “reasonable prices” and “close down,” and proofread carefully. Greater precision would make your vocabulary more effective and flexible.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “which,” and “if,” and most of your meaning remains clear. Some grammatical errors persist, particularly with articles, agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, “is responsible for closing of all shops” needs an article before “closing,” while “it will leads” should be “it will lead.” In “a lot of the local people loss their jobs,” the verb form is incorrect; “a lot of local people lose their jobs” would be more accurate. The sentence beginning “However, a proportion of citizens display…” is also awkwardly joined to the preceding conclusion. Review subject–verb agreement and verb patterns, and vary complex structures while checking each sentence for accuracy.
