Student answer (Band 6.0)

The rapid growth of online shopping will lead to closure of all the shops in towns and cities. I agree with this statement because online shopping is highly convenient with the vast variety of products.

To begin with, online shopping offers high level of convenience to the consumers. Although shopping through websites or apps is extremely time saving, it is also highly reliable as there are plenty trusted websites launched by the well-known brands such as Old Navy, Guess they provide safe payment methods for their digital consumers. For instance, people do no have to wait in long ques on special days like Black Friday, they just conveniently shop through the website, choose the item and get it delivered to their house. Therefore, this is one of main reason why people would choose online shopping as compared to the traditional one.

Although online stores provides the vast variety products, it also has a lower operating cost. Operating business digitally lowers the cost of rents, electricity also reduces labour cost. Furthermore, it provides wide variety of products without a shelf life. For instance, there is a well-known website Amazon which offers great deals on various items from household goods to electronic devices. Rather than going door to door to find a product digital businesses have made it easier to purchase a good with a single click. Thus, i agree that the vast variety online, compared to limited options in a physical store, is a major reason people choose online shopping today.

To put this in a nutshell, with the increase in technology, traditional shopping is becoming less in demand and that might lead to all shops in town and cities closing.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you agree that online shopping may cause traditional shops to close. You give relevant reasons—convenience, product choice, and lower operating costs—and support them with examples such as Black Friday shopping and Amazon. This addresses the task, but the argument is not fully developed in places. In particular, lower costs for online businesses do not by themselves explain why all physical shops would close, and the claim about a “vast variety” is repeated rather than explored further. The prompt asks about the eventual closure of all shops, so consider acknowledging limits or explaining why even shops offering in-person services would be unable to survive. More precise development of that central claim would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting reasons, and a concluding summary. Paragraphs generally focus on one main idea, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “Thus” help readers follow the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The second body paragraph begins “Although online stores provides,” but the contrast signalled by “Although” is not completed, and the paragraph moves from operating costs to product variety without clearly showing how the ideas relate. The conclusion also repeats the opening position rather than drawing together the reasons. Use linking phrases that express the actual relationship between points, and make each paragraph’s progression more explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “convenience,” “reliable,” “operating cost,” “digital consumers,” and “traditional shopping.” These choices make the subject clear, and examples such as “safe payment methods” and “household goods” add useful specificity. There are, however, some inaccurate or unnatural word combinations that limit precision: “high level of convenience,” “plenty trusted websites,” “wide variety products,” and “without a shelf life.” The last phrase does not clearly express the intended point about online stock or product availability. Spelling errors such as “ques” also occur. Aim to learn common collocations as complete phrases and choose wording that precisely conveys the intended meaning; this would make your vocabulary more natural and flexible.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession clause beginning “Although” and a reason clause with “because.” Meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. For example, “online stores provides” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “people do no have to wait” contains an incorrect verb form. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent in phrases such as “offers high level” and “one of main reason.” The sentence about Old Navy and Guess joins clauses without clear punctuation, making its structure difficult to follow. Review agreement, articles, and singular/plural forms, and divide long sentences or connect their clauses with appropriate punctuation. Greater accuracy in these areas would improve control of your varied sentence forms.
