Student answer (Band 6.5)

The popularity of online shopping is increasing day by day. It has been said that online shopping will lead the whole market one day and all physical shops in towns and cities will colse. I don't agree with this prediction and I will explain reasons behind my opinion.

There are several reasons why people are still rely on physical shops. Firstly, people want to experience the feel of physical shops because on online store there is no chance to validate the product. For example, if a person wants feel the quality of any cloth, he has to go to the physical clothing store.

Secondly, physical shopping centers offer other amusement activities like games, restaurants in their premises so that people can enjoy their shopping. If all shops will convert to online then there will be no chance to enjoy these activities while shopping. Shopping becomes boring for people that's why physical shopping will not close permanently.

Moreover, to maintain the online shopping platform needs advance technology knowledge which is not present in most of the sellers as well as devices availability is not up to mark in many developing countries. So fully shifting to online shops is not possible for many countries.

In conclusion, though the area of online shopping is raising tremendously but it is not fully shifted the physical shops because people will always have the thirst for physical shopping for their recreation. Online shopping will always a convenient and flexible option for people as parallel to physical shopping.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction—“I don't agree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address the central prediction with relevant reasons: the ability to inspect products, the leisure offered by shopping centres, and barriers to online retail in some developing countries. The clothing example helps illustrate the first point, and the response gives a clear overall answer to the question. To strengthen the argument further, develop the later points with more specific explanation or examples. For instance, explain what kinds of products are difficult to assess online, or how limited technology affects sellers and customers. The claim that shopping would become “boring” is plausible but broad; a more precise explanation would make the support more convincing and less generalised.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, separate paragraphs present supporting reasons, and the conclusion restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Moreover” make the progression easy to follow, while “For example” signals supporting detail. This logical organisation is effective. Some connections between ideas could be made more precise, however. In the second body paragraph, the move from shopping-centre activities to the claim that physical shopping will not close is quite abrupt; explain more directly how these activities sustain visits to shops. The conclusion also repeats the contrast between online and physical shopping rather than drawing the reasons together. More varied, natural linking and clearer references would make cohesion less formulaic.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your argument, including “physical shops,” “online shopping platform,” “developing countries,” and “convenient and flexible.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, which keeps the expression from being consistently precise. Examples include “lead the whole market,” “validate the product,” “other amusement activities,” and “the area of online shopping is raising tremendously.” The spelling error “colse” is also noticeable. Aim to learn common word partnerships for this topic and choose more exact terms—for example, customers can “inspect” or “assess” a product, and online shopping can “grow rapidly.” This will make your ideas clearer and more idiomatic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if a person wants feel the quality … he has to go” and a subordinate clause beginning “though” in the conclusion. Meaning is generally recoverable, but errors occur often enough to affect fluency and sometimes make sentences awkward. For example, “people are still rely” should use either “people still rely” or “people are still relying”; “if all shops will convert” needs a present-tense form after “if”; and “Online shopping will always a convenient … option” is missing “be.” There are also problems with articles and sentence construction, such as “on online store.” Practise checking verb forms, agreement, and complete clause structure, especially in longer sentences.
