Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, there is noticeable growth in online shopping, which has impacted the demand of small business owners. Some people say that if this growth continues, shops would no longer be available in towns and cities. From my perspectives, shops will not completely diminish in the future because there are many people in our community who do not use online platform for shopping. They prefer to visit physical stores, explore new products and discuss about products with sales associate. It is undeniable that shops offer better customer services than online website.
To begin, there are several benefits of online shopping. Online websites offer better deals, discounts and varieties of options, which may attract people to order products through websites. Additionally, individuals do not have to visit a store, thereby saving time by placing an order online. Individuals can compare the price of same products with different website to save money. This option is more convenient and increase saving at certain context.
On the other side, some people are afraid of online shopping because several crimes has been initiated online recently. Therefore, it makes difficult to find a legitimate website. Furthermore, many individuals feel unsafe when they add bank details or any personal information online because in recent years, it is observed that companies used to sell personal data to the another company without consent for money. This raise serious safety concern among many people.
To sum up, although shops does not offer great deals and discounts, they are often considered as safe options. Despite the increasing demand of online shopping, they have not build the trust among people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you disagree that online shopping will eliminate all physical shops, and you give relevant reasons, including customers’ preference for in-person service and concerns about online privacy. The discussion of online shopping’s advantages also acknowledges the opposing side. However, the response does not fully develop the central claim that shops will remain: the preference for exploring products and speaking with sales staff is stated but not illustrated or explained in depth. The safety argument is relevant, but it would be stronger with a specific example and a clearer link to why this ensures shops will continue to operate. Develop these points and make the conclusion’s reasoning more explicit to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally have identifiable purposes, and signposts such as “To begin,” “On the other side” and “To sum up” help readers follow the discussion. However, the progression is not always fully logical: the first body paragraph lists online-shopping benefits, but the next shifts to safety concerns without clearly connecting these points to the claim that physical shops will survive. Some linking is mechanical, and references such as “they” in the conclusion are unclear because it could refer to shops or online options. Use more precise referencing and connect each paragraph explicitly to your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “demand,” “legitimate website,” “personal data” and “without consent.” These choices allow you to discuss convenience and privacy, and the meaning is generally clear. There are, however, several inaccurate or unnatural word combinations, such as “demand of small business owners,” “discuss about products” and “at certain context.” “Crimes has been initiated” also does not express the intended idea naturally. These slips limit precision, even though they do not prevent understanding. Aim for more natural collocations and check whether a word fits its context; for example, describe the demand for small businesses or say that crimes are committed online.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including a conditional sentence (“if this growth continues”) and a participle construction (“thereby saving time”). Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. Examples include “there is noticeable growth” where the tense should match the recent trend, “some people are afraid … because several crimes has” with subject–verb disagreement, and “shops does not offer” with incorrect agreement. There are also article and plural errors in “the price of same products” and “different website.” Review agreement, articles and singular/plural forms, then proofread each sentence. More consistent accuracy in these areas would strengthen your control while retaining the sentence variety you already attempt.
